Been trying kingoroot for this phone and no luck here either but it does work on tablets with kitkat just not on this phone.I still have my optimus f3 just in case i need it for wifi tethering in the future as i can not do it with the tribute phone.

Check out my post here about rooting the Tribute.

You should be able to run wifi tethering apps that require root after this is done on your Tribute.

Having V5 is fine, Hackubus. My phone is rooted and on V5. I unrooted my phone to update, then rooted back, but only after I could confirm other users doing so successfully.

Yes it worked just having issues with link2sd and wifi tethering but i will play around with them and other programs to see what works.

WiFi tether router works great 2.50 in the market saved my butt a lot now I'm using lollipop cm 12

Sometimes u can't look at a device for it appearance better to do some research on the device before buying processor may be fast still u don't really have control over ur device

Finally got link2sd to work.In the past i used ext2 but this phone gave me error and found out using ext4 works great.As for wifi tether pointed out to me by devilschild26 the playstore will not list it on my phone and when i try to push it from the playstore from a computer to my wishlist and then get it on phone it just says not compatible with phone or carrier and download links are missing.

Don't know hackubus is having problems accessing the tethering app I've used it on cheaper devices and it was compatible must be the ROM he's using if that's the case I've experienced that before in the past with certain apps not being compatible with the device then changed ROMs bamm it was compatible

Play store version is 5.4.12 on my virgin mobile tribute but still not on play store only through wishlists that i had to use computer to add it so i can view it thru play store.I get this message thru the play store app "this item isn't availabe on your carrier ". No download button or links show up for download. My rom is the stock version that came already on phone.

Lollipop 12 has built in native tethering maybe u need a new phone with more development I think u should pick up an zte awe no regrets 18 ROMs all KitKat and lollipop cm 12.1 dirty unicorns

Got my Tribute yesterday..got successful root today. Want to thank EVERYONE'S feedback & hardwork on this phone. My hubby still has his F3 running AS8v22. It's still running like the finely tuned machine it is. Now, if we can get a deodexed or custom rom for the Tribute, life would be great!

Funny- there are plenty of options for bigger screened phones out there. What attracted me to the F3 was that is it one of the few smaller, or what I like to consider "normal" sized display phones. A bigger F3 sounds like exactly what I DON'T need!
