PHONE MODEL: MAX N9520 (aKa, Iconic Phablet)

ERROR: (Status 7)
I have been trying to update my ZTE Software since February 2015. It tells me it's a status 7 error, package mismatch...
Assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/app/hangouts. apk")
it also says
E:Error in /cache/**a bunch of #s & letters that end with**_814_TO_KK_B10.ZIP
I have NO idea what this means - my hangouts is enabled AND up-to-date.
Also, each time this happens, afterwards I get a popup notification that says
Unfortunately Hangouts has stopped.
??? Does ANYONE know what all this means, and how to fix it?
WILL I EVER BE ABLE TO UPDATE MY SOFTWARE!?
