What Do You Like/Dislike About Your Ascend Mate 2?

I love the battery life (I got 72 hours my first charge!)
I love the screen size (though it's taking some getting used to)
I hate that the nav bar is gray (who thought that looked good?)
I don't care anything about Emotion UI (but still like the look better than Touchwiz)
I hate that towelroot doesn't work on HAM2 (need some root love)
I love the price and that I could buy it direct from Huawei
I love to say Huawei
I dislike the analog clock on the smart display (need an option for digital)

I agree with pretty much everything. I ended up ditching the flip case though since it seemed pointless. Awaiting a shell from eBay.

To update, the Trident Cyclops case is very nice. It's 2 piece construction provides nearly complete protection of the HAM2. The front piece covers the bezel and entire screen leaving only the front facing camera and earpiece exposed. The front piece clips very securely to rear piece which only exposes the speaker and camera/flash. There is a small uncovered spot at the bottom for the mic. Both the 3.5mm jack and charge port have covers. In my opinion the tradeoff in using this case is the added bulk and weight. While it's not a terrible amount it is noticeable. Also the bump for the power button does take a little effort to push, however this may simply be a wear-in period thing. Overall, I'd recommend this case for its superior protection and good looks.

I've noticed either I have something set wrong, or a software glitch on my HAM2. After a night of sleep, in the morning, when I wake it up, it never has updated the clock, or temperature even though it's set to update each hour. Battery plan is "normal", do not disturb is NOT turned on, no super sleep mode on that I know of. Also, when it does this...it could be 3-4 hours of non use, when I wake it up, the clock might be updated, but even though I've received an email, when I check it on the laptop, it might say the email was received at say 10am, and it's 1pm, and until I launch the email app, it won't download the email? I'm pretty sure I have the default email not set up, the one I use is k-9. Same thing for messaging. the sms program I use, sometimes doesn't notify me of a text message. Something isn't pushing them.
What am I missing?

Tried that. It's strange, sometimes it goes off to sleep for some reason, and won't keep the email app working, sometimes not. I might just blow it out and factory reset it and see what happens. I got a OnePlus One about 4 days after I got the Huawei, and nothing against the OnePlus, but I'm addicted to that 6.1 screen now.

Same thing happened to me few times. Both kakaotalk(messenger app) and yahoo mail app close completely when phone goes to deep sleep(overnight unplugged, or several hours), and fail to notify me when new messages and email arrive until i open the apps. Both apps were protected apps under the setting.

Another problem I had was excess battery drain overnight by sensors.qcom. Restarting the phone helped, and I think it had something to do with autorotate sensor. Autorotate stopped working 3~ times so far while using it.

The screen is pretty amazing even at 720p. I tried using my S3 after about a month on the HAM2, and it looked and felt so tiny.
That is a strange problem. I was having similar but protecting some of the apps did help my problem.

Selling my HAM2. I really don't want to get rid of it because it is an awesome device, but the lack of root became a deal breaker for me. Even if we had no custom roms or recovery we could still use xposed framework modules to customize our experience.
So I'm swapping to the LG Optimus G Pro. 5.5" screen, quad core snapdragon 600, 1.7gHz processor, 32gb on board storage, and above all, developer support.
If the HAM2 someday finally gets the recognition it deserves I'd absolutely buy another one.
I tried every root method I could find, I offered a bounty to geohot (didn't even answer), I tried paying"professionals" to remotely root, but nothing worked. If anybody flew the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 flag it was me. Some stars just never shine.

Thank You Amazon Prime!

While no surprise after a couple of years as a Prime member, it's still rather exciting to get what I ordered so quickly, after my OnePlus One odyssey.

Hmmm, what do I like?

1) The spacious DISPLAY!

2) The robust battery

Nothing else is of any great significance simply because I bought it to hold me over until I can become an early adopter of the upcoming Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro... :D

I generally wait until I've had a new phone for at least a month before commenting. In this case I'm on week six and very pleased. Especially since I've never bought anything except flagship top of the line models.

Finally an Android with excellent battery life and a spacious display which is the ideal size for my work and the number of hours per day I spend on it.

Oh sure there's a few improvements needed, but no phone is perfect and this one has the most important features I need. Such a bargain as well! Purchased from Amazon the experience this far has been exemplary.

Q1: Can I keep the analog clock on indefinitely (not just a few second) after I close the flip case cover? How?

Q2: I have a T-Mobile 4G LTE data plan. However, I am not able to use 4G LTE, all it shows up is 2G EDGE.

I did some research and went to Settings / Mobile Networks / Access Point Names: there are existing T-MobileData and T-Mobile US. However, I can't modify either one of them to the T-Mobile website's instruction, as the fields are grayed out. I tried to create a new one according to the T-Mobile website's instruction, and (since I can't delete the two existing ones either) the phone simply went back to the existing one.

I'd appreciate your help.

I'm using my Mate2 on T-Mobile but I am able to use 4G LTE. In my APN settings, I have "T-MobileData", "T-Mobile MMS", and "T-MobileTethering".

I don't know if this will do anything, but maybe try pressing the 3-dot menu button and resetting to default?
