The trouble with Swappa or Why Swappa sucks

Here's the trouble with selling on Swappa The site uses phone models as categories so visitors to the site looking to buy phones first see every make, model and carrier phone After clicking on the phone they're intersted in, then they see listings What's wrong with that? It excludes the buyer who's hasn't made up his mind which phone to buy and the worst part is that listings for less popular phones go almost entirely unviewed at all You can keep lowering and lowering the price but that won't get your listing any more views because nobody's even aware of your lising anyway This is why Swappa totally sucks Wait it gets worse The world at large has been relying on Swappa price data to establish the value of phones which sell for 50% more on ebay But wait, there's more Instead of a percentage they take a flat $10 fee when your item sells This grossly favors sellers of more expensive phones Swappa is an ILLIQUID marketplace for phones that are less than phenomenally popular Nobody is gonna see your listings and like I said, less popular phones sell for as much as 50% less than on ebay Therefore, it's terribly unfair to the global marketplace for used phones that Swappa is becoming a price determining standard When I tell you Swappa sucks I mean it really sucks Sellers, stay away from this piss poor marketplace where you're sure to go unappreciated and your listings for anything but the most popular phones are sure to go unnoticed

Maybe try selling it on Ebay instead? FWIW I never heard of Swappa.

What phone are you actually trying to sell and where are you, which country? If you got something obscure that almost nobody has ever heard of, it could be a hard sale. Like if I were trying to sell a second hand Oppo Find 7 in the UK, many people might go "What the hell is that?" whereas if I was selling a Samsung S4 or an iPhone 5, no problem.

He's in the US and it's very popular here.

eBay mostly sucks.

We have a classified section -

OP, you need 25 posts to get in there - but drop @Phases a line, we've been known to make exceptions, and you've been a good member.

My issue is with the Swappa buyers. They're super picky and weird. One guy returned a phone because it was 2 degrees warmer than the normal operating temperature. Another said the serial number showed the phone was 1 month older than he expected, then he got my listing removed. Last jerk did a net present value analysis on a phone and tried to haggle the price down by 50%. Then don't forget the scum offering trades. eBay takes a bigger fee, but you don't get super weird buyers.

My issue with Swappa buyers is they are on the site because they can't seem to pay their bills and avoid things like Carrier locks. Swappa doesn't care. They only let buyers rate sellers. They do not let sellers rate buyers who lie their way through a sale and expect the seller to pay return shipping (We've already paid shipping to get the phone to them). Support has no substantive involvement - I am not sure they can even read (not kidding). I had a buyer tell me for a week the phone I sold her had a phone with a lock on it. I had it put through a simulated activation with Verizon twice - always a clean phone, which it was. I finally got her on the phone with a Verizon rep who verified the lock was HER ACCOUNT - gave me the number for the account that was locked - and Swappa did NOTHING to help me in this sale. Yes, she gave up but gave me a one-star rating as being the worst purchase she ever made. Why? Because I didn't let her lie her way to a refund she didn't deserve? Swappa was NO HELP - didn't care - and I couldn't rate the buyer to warn people about her. Swappa is not like eBay where buyers and sellers rate each other. What are they hiding? I'll tell you what they are hiding . . . a site where people can screw honest sellers with good products. Don't go there.

I believe Swappa is XDA's official market place since 2013.

Oops, Sorry my friend, I just noticed your post was way back in 2015. LoL.

It sounds like a Swappa employee trying to interfere here. I was selling an iphone 6 Plus which received an offer within a week. Verified Verizon activation. Questioning the market and the sale? No. Swappa a preferred marketplace that does not accept seller reviews?? Seriously? Get outta here bozo.
I would sell on eBay 100 times before the crooks on swappa. No seller s able to review buyers? How biased is this? Socialism anyone?

Yea, and what make you an expert? You don't know a thing about me. Think what ever you want buddy. I can see why you got a bad review. If I was the buyer and you're correspondence was insulting, I'd give you a bad review too.
Bro, if you re-read my post, you'll see I wasn't even objecting to any of your previous comments. Furthermore, with my poor writing skills and my bad spelling do you really think Im a Swappa employee? RIGHT?

LoL

PS. I am a senior member of XDA and if that upsets you. GOOD

Welcome to AF

I've never bought a phone from Swappa. The sellers don't provide enough information with there listings. I look for phone i can root and almost of the sellers provide the the firmware with there listing.
Another thing is most sellers aren't clear as of it a locked or unlocked device, or if its another carriers flashed with combination firmware, GSM or CDMA.
