When I tried your app, it drove all 4 of my CPU cores to nearly maximum. It's repeatable and includes starting from a state with 3 idle, 1 at the lowest frequency. You may want to check that.

Nice that your app is not abusive of privacy, well done.

Sorry for the problem. The heaviest processing the app does is reading 6 files every second to update the info section. It shouldn't be driving your CPU to Max though. Does this state prevail when you have minimised the app?

It does prevail, yes. It also prevails for a minute or more after exiting the app.

If you're using some form of buffered i/o I suppose it's possible that something is being queued up and executing asynchronously - but you already know while reading if that's silly or not.

I'm using an HTC One M8, Snapdragon 801 @ 2.3 GHz.

Btw - the app cannot resolve any GPU information if that helps you.

I will look into it. I have fixed most of the GPU issues in the coming update. BTW do you happen to know the file in which GPU freq are stored for m8? It should be in /system/devices and the filename will most likely contain gpu and clk.
My phone doesn't have a /system/devices and there are no files under /system with either gpu or clk in the file name.

The only reference I've found anywhere in the system is here -

And I definitely have an Adreno 330.
