OK, I'm overwhelmed in the Google Play Store and searching this forum gives me more hits than I can digest (so many inappropriate - I guess I need to go to search school), so like a newbie, I'm asking.
We're planning a week trip to Washington DC this fall and don't want to carry a guidebook (they're so old school).
I need an app that will help me get around town to the sites I want to see and perhaps includes some nice walking tours.
I don't need hotels (have that covered) and tons of restaurant reviews (I know they are all ads in disguise anyway).
I don't need info on the government buildings - there's enough of that on Wiki.
I need info about the museums and other sightseeing attractions. GPS nav would be a plus.
Free would be good, but I'm certainly not opposed to spending <$5.00 on something if it's better than the free ones.
I don't want an app that asks for too many permissions either. The first ones I looked at wanted access to my contacts? What for? To spam them? I don't want to share my contacts without their permission.
My phone has droid 4.2.2 on it. My carrier is MetroPCS/T-Mobile so I expect to have good coverage.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Bob
