We can now synchronize Outlook & Android without a 3rd party app or Exchange Server!

Thx guys, your input has been invaluable. I am a fairly cheap SOB myself :) but also not trained in any of this. Basically what I know is what I've had to look up, like this stuff, over the past 20 years.

Anyway, even though the 365 option would be infinitely easier for me, how could I pass up the experience and wisdom presented here :) Plus at some point in my old age, learning has become fun!

I really appreciate the input.

I was using CompanionLink successfully but something changed (not sure but I did switch to Office 2013) and now it is not working for me at all.

So I tried using the Outlook.com sync built into Outlook 2013 and added a hotmail account to Outlook. The calendar on my S3 was very limited in the number of days and even some events in the next 10 days did not show up in my phone. So I have given up on that approach.

I am looking for more suggestions on the nest method of syncing my Outlook desktop calendar with my S3 (soon to be upgraded to a S5 if that makes any difference).

Thanks for your help.

I'm sure Razz will be along to sort your problems our with Outlook.com but I use MyPhoneExplorer to sync phone (S4 now - HTC Desire HD previously) with desktop pc. It's a local sync though rather than 'cloud'. But I can sync my whole (several years) calendar.

I have never posted but read this forum for awhile and this thread is particularly pertinent to me. I have used MPE (MyPhoneExplorer) as a Contacts and Notes sync app between my PC's Outlook and my old Galaxy Note 1 (original). I just upgraded to a Note 4 last week and at the same time upgraded my MPE to 1.8.6, the latest version since it worked flawlessly for what I wanted to do. Catastrophe! My ESET antivirus quarantined it immediately and long story short I ran a scan and wiped it clean, thanks to ESET. But this left me no easy option to sync contacts from Outlook. I tried Wondershare's MobileGo and I actually got the contacts over to the phone but everytime you open it it wants to scan your phone for open apps causing battery consumption and other unwanted things. Nice idea but it drove me nuts. Since I had be researching apps this entire time and reading reviews, none of which seemed to be above 3.X stars, I decided to look for software for the PC to do this. Companion Link came up but since is has a companion app for the phone, DejaOffice, I stayed away because of the mediocre reviews. Someone here metioned AkrutoSync so I went to their website. First off, there is a picture and short bio of the owner and his mission regarding simple sync software. And, a contact for questions via email. I sent a question and within 30 minutes I had a response. I downloaded the free trial and followed some of the best instructions I've seen for a software install. Buy the way, this time I scanned the download before opening and it was clean. Although it does not sync Notes right now, I am very happy and relieved to have a package that works! And there is no app to install on your phone, even better! I will pay at the end of my 7 day free trial.

My phone's calendar is synced to Hotmail/Outlook many months into the future. I don't know why it's not working that way for you.

Akruto is another cloud-free option that can sync your entire Outlook PC calendar with your Android. It's been working for me for a long time and I have a ton of data. HTH someone looking for more options. There are a few apps in this space, so one is bound to meet your needs.

There are a couple of webpages out there that explain what features to look for. Trying searching for "sync outlook solution features" as it pulled up a few comparison articles for me.
