Help In call volume is way too low

After the latest update, my front speakers barely have any sound anymore. I have my volume set at max and the little bit of sound that comes out during a call or on speakerphone comes out of the back of the phone now. I never use to have to have the call volume set past midway on the settings before and now, even at maximum volume, I can barely hear the person on the other end! I have taken the battery out, and tried changing the volume in the settings menu and also during a call. The volume will go down but I can't hear the person on max. What happened? And how to I fix the volume issue? Thank you!

Thank you Thank You!!! Came here today for the same issue.. my volume, even maxed out (which I never do) was barely audible.. You saved my butt!!!! What a bug huh???

I went to >sound>volume and lower and raise the volume for the top bar just like the Lordvincent 90 said, that did not do it though, I also THEN lowered and raised my volume on the side of the phone and BLAMO it started to behave correctly again.. Thank you Thank you!!!

My Samsung Galaxy Rush has this same problem. The speakerphone and receiver are sometimes both barely audible and I found that merely lowering and raising the volume did not remedy this problem. I did find that after bringing up the virtual volume control on the screen with the side volume control, and then, by a peck at the screen from the low position and another peck back to high, did the trick. Watch out because volume should blast again! This seems to be a software defect as I need to repeat this procedure from time to time.

I had the volume problem after some hot days where my phone was not wet but in a moist pocket from perspiration. gMy phone has a cheap paper material type cover over the speaker whereas others have had a metal grid. It appears this paper cover sort of expands and blocks the sound. Slowly over the next couple of weeks as it dries out the volume returned. Cleaning the speaker slot sort of helps but you can get more severe to speed it up. Note I doubt the following would not be recommended by the manufacturer. You could pull apart the phone and remove the cover or poke some pin holes in it. Also not that the crapy bit of water resistance it may have would be gone. But I am happy at least I can hear a call with my phone again. Which I believe is the phones primary function. I hope some manufacturers read this and ban thse crap speaker covers from their phone. Note this is the one built in and not an additional phone cover.

RESOLVED.........Narrowed the issue down, with my Note 3, after a process of elimination. Tried all the settings adjustments without any luck. Although very low volume for the earpiece during calls, noticed that I could hear almost as well if I held my phone to the back of the phone??? On very close inspection (glasses and torch) could just about see that tiny ear piece holes were blocked. This could have been hair wax, hand cream or anything like this as holes are so tiny. Anyway, careful use of a pin on these cleared the holes and voila!!! I can hear my callers again. Hope this might help someone else out there
