That's easily accomplished... keep "Unknown sources" disabled in Settings/Security unless you really need it, and enable "Verify apps". This isn't really a virus, it's malware and can only be 'caught' by installing it, which these measures should prevent.
I'm actually a computer guy (Windows... maintenance, building, malware removal, etc), but still learning about Android and it's vulnerabilities. And... it's actually... "ransomware". LOL!
next time you should be able to use twrp to mount system then browse franework folder...this thing can and does install and run fine right from the franework folder.
