I found the Shield very limited... but I'm not a gamer.

We have a 65" Samsung 4K UHD 3DTV and it is phenomenal. The glasses are ultra-lightweight, hold a great charge, and the visuals are flat-out stunning.

Looks like Sharp is getting out of the TV business in North America. Though the name will continue as rebadged Hisense models.

Okay,We have all 4 types of tv's in our house.
To start out,We all know how tube tv's look and the resolution.Was great in there old days.
Our room mate has a Panasonic Viera 55" 720p Plasma,It looks okay.
Plus I have had LCD tv's too,And they look good,But not very good for Computer gaming.
Now,I and the wife have LED tv's,All 3 of our LEDS are 32",Wife's LED tv is a Vizio 720p.
I have 2 Sharp LED 108op,And I use one for a Computer monitor and it works great and has a pretty fast response time,Plus LEDS look great.
So I vote for LEDS.

I thought Vizio was close last year. If this review is accurate, they may be hard to beat in the affordable TV category this year.

So, this just happened.

Mother in laws TV broke, and my wife suggested we give her ours and get the one I want. Mine was 2 year old 55" Sammy LED 120hz, more than adequate.

I even tried to talk them into a 40 ish inch new one for them for 300 bucks. But no, they figured this was best. So I said screw it. $1199.99 at Best Buy. And it looks glorious, especially the 10 things on Netflix 4k content

I got a Hisense TV here actually, it's pretty good. Although in China, I'm sure they'll keep them branded as Hisense rather than Sharp.

I have 2 32" LED 1080 Sharp HDTV's and I love them both.One I use for tv and the other I use as my desktop monitor.

Congrats! Too bad you couldn't have waited for the Black Friday deals on Amazon. They had some big discounts last year.

I've just given my Panasonic 42" plasma a new lease of life by getting a PVR with HD tuners. All the main channels now in glorious 1080.

A PVR is something I've never even considered buying, and not seen them much here anyway. Frankly there's nothing on live TV I would actually want to record. The TV I've got is not online, however it does have USB ports, so I download TV shows and movies using the laptop, and then plug the USB thumb-drives into the TV to watch, or use my Win 10 tablet via HDMI for watching streamed online. Last time I actually recorded a TV show or movie, was on VHS! LOL

It's true there is precious little actually worth recording on terrestrial TV. But we don't have Sky, and the kids like to record Frasier and stuff on the CBBC channel. Plus you can build up a nice library of films.
The other main advantage is being able to pause/rewind live TV when you go off and make a cuppa.
