Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

To @bjacks12, and @zuben el genub - I will get on the laptop to peruse the links you've left in this thread, so I can make the manual upgrade. Thank you for sharing these.

My only hope is that we won't go through what happened with all of the bad releases mentioned earlier in this thread...

LW

It's official... I managed to get 64-bit Windows 10 installed on the laptop. My lady is pleased, as the setup is like the days of old. I followed @bjacks12's instructions, and downloaded the 64-bit Media Creation Tool before downloading Windows 10. I've literally blocked everything for privacy purposes, and installed Script Blocker for Chrome just to be sure.

So, I'm taking full advantage of the 64-bit chip installed in this laptop. I can even access an AMD Power Allocation Center where I changed the clock speed of the processor, so that it would be powerful in AC power mode, and power stingy when using the battery. No more 32-bit Windows 8.1. I have had to contact Avast, as the scans seem to be ineffective since the installation of Windows 10. For example, there's a rant unto itself. When you see SVC files flying past during a Full System Scan with three question marks after the file, and the scan percentage stays at 0% - you know that you've got problems.

Windows Defender? Oh, please...

Thank you for the help, bjacks and @zuben el genub - I did read the fine print, and, the operating system works better than Windows 8.1. So much for me to be a Winblows hater...

8.1 wasn't bad; it was, without a doubt, the most clunky UI I've ever used. Classic Shell saved the day - most of the time.

Though, the bloatware is there, in Windows 10 - Skype? Jeez... or, was. I learned my way around, and, uninstalled the the BS. I did install the Keyboard and Mouse Center, so that I could stop Chrome from changing screen zoom when I held the left button down to manipulate the screen, or radio buttons. So far, it's okay. I'm still a Mac guy at heart, but, this has been the best release from Microsoft since XP Service Pack 1, and I remember everything back to x86-chip Winblows 3, and it's savior, 3.1.

It's good. So far...

Glad it's going for you, Here's another caveat you should check. I think the solution is mentioned/

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/windows-update-delivery-optimization-faq

Getting charged for going over bandwidth cap when not your doing could be the pits.

There's usually a whole lot of bugs and misinfo on any new release. I'm only posting in hopes of saving some people grief.

My rant for the night!

Elvis. I hate him. King of rock and roll? King of plagiarizing, maybe. Even now, most people don't realize that he stole the majority of his music from African American bluesmen who still haven't gotten the public recognition they deserve for writing the music he made sensational.. Even his controversial hip shaking was not originally his move.

God bless racist America, I guess...

Frankly I thought much of his music was written by Leiber & Stoller.

That's one thing we almost never hear of in China, Elvis Presley. Michael Jackson on the other hand "King of Pop", that's a different matter.
