I am writing to introduce my new Android puzzle game called Brownout, City Wide Edition. I am a new game designer and this is the first game I have made for release to the gaming community. My hope is to eventually release this game for IOS as well in the next few months.

So what exactly is brownout all about? Ask yourself what happens when a city's new power system fails, the city goes completely dark. It is your job to race to the affected cities and solve the power outage that has befallen upon them. So how do you exactly restart power to an entire city, with the help of the Terradyne Particle Emitter found in the individual district power stations.

The terradyne particle emitter is a new device specially designed for rapid recharging of deactivated capacitors. Of course, with any new tech there is always one slightly small issue. The energy particle that it releases is so powerful that it tends to bounce itself around a deactivated panel recharging everything it touches.

Now this wouldn't be an issue if each panel only had the exact amount of capacitors needed to operate, but the engineers decided to overload the panels with extra for safety. At least they color-coded them for your quick reference.

So the objective of the game is to restore the power stations two panels within a limited number of shots. Each deactivated capacitor has a set recharge limit, anywhere from 5% to 50%. Once an energy particle touches a capacitor it will fully recharge to its max power.

A capacitor can only be recharged once, so if the particle touches it again it won’t be affected. Each panel must be recharged to 100% for the system to be restored. If you charge up to many capacitors, the system will overload and shutdown.

The game is an open level design, so you are able to go to any city district that you choose. There are no time limits for completing the levels and this game is designed to not require any in-game app purchases to complete or unlock new levels.

A couple of additional screenshots for you guys to take a look at --

-- this image shows a level that has too many capacitors activated.

-- this image shows a level with panel air vents that will take the particle in at the bottom and release it from one of the top vents (in a random fashion)

Thanks again for reading and following this thread.

In this image, you'll see that the panels are equipped with horizontal and vertical sliders. These move the capacitors around the panel to better help balance the overall system. The nice thing is that since these sliders take up a lot of room in the panel, there usually is only enough room for just the right amount of capacitors.

Thanks for following along with this thread.
