Alcatel Idol 3 Experience?

Also known as a TCL Idol X. TCL being the Chinese manufacturer. Can't see any reason why it should lag or slowdown after just a month, it's a reasonable specced midrange Chinese device, Snapdragon 615, 2GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage, plus SD upto 128GB, 13 megapixel camera.
Can't say I know why it would either. And yes, I'm going for this phone to serve as an upgrade from my Nexus 5, in mostly the battery and multimedia departments.

My opinion is a LG Nexus 5 is still a reasonable specced device, in fact it has a better/faster processor Snapdragon 800, main thing is it doesn't have SD, if you want to store lots of multimedia.

However something you might very well notice with the TCL/Alcatel, is a heavily customized and skinned version of Android, while the Nexus is a pure Google experience. Also updates, a Nexus is updated promptly by Google, Chinese phones frequently are not, and may never receive any Android updates at all, like the forthcoming Android M.

That did make think me think about the lagging you mentioned after a month, was that reported somewhere with this TCL/Alcatel phone? Certain Chinese versions of Android have been known to be buggy before now, e.g. Oppo's ColorOS 1.0 versions, and some can be rather bloated as well.

Alcatel's UI appears to be very light though... really only there seems to be a few preinstalled apps and an icon pack.

Hi,
I'm looking to get myself an Alcatel Idol 3 but I've heard performance wears down a great deal after a month or so and begins to lag a ton. Can any Idol 3 users deny/confirm this? Thanks.

I'm a user of Alcatel OneTouch Flash Plus, gotta say that this phone has great performance for its low price. No such laggy thing since I used this phone.

I've had alcatel one touch idol 3 for about 3 months. The performance is still very good, as new. I like the price, the size, and it is very light. Although, the 5.5" inch screen seems smaller than iPhone 6 Plus 5.5 inch screen. To me, it's big enough and yet fit in my pocket very well. One warning though, don't put it in the same pocket with your wallet. It is so big that many times, it scoops the wallet out while I tried to take out the phone.
