Root Guide: Root and install ClockWorkMod custom recovery on LG P690 (Optimus Net / Link / Spirit)

even tryd quick boot and same thing happened phone reboots lg logo comes up thand a android man and a package with a loading bar under it than loads lg and Telstra logo and resets phone please help??

There's something wrong.
Seems like recovery is not installed properly.
Install ROM Manager from Play Store, it'll detect if you have recovery installed or not.

If it doesn't detect, then you can try reinstalling the recovery.

I successfully flash both my daughter's and my phone. Hers more so than mine :)

When I did mine, the "flash_recovery" step generated a page full of write errrors!!! Not knowing what else to do, I rebooted anyway and bricked the phone :(

After much searching around, I found the KDS tool and stock load .kds file and a guilde about how to re-flash the stock ROM from "Emergency Mode!!!" and then tried again.

Much better the second time.

I did this initially because the LG stock ROM would get corrupted every so often requiring an annoying factory recovery (erasing everything!). I thought CWM would be just good for doing an Nandroid backup. However it also gave me the confidence to try your CM7.2... ahhhh serenity at last!!!!

About the Factory Reset Warning part.
It is valid because you can't perform it using phone's built-in feature which can be found at Settings > Privacy > Factory Reset

Just a couple of differences I found in your instructions. I did not have a file manager on my stock phone, so needed to download one from Google Play. Also, I have no /sdcard directory. What shows up on my Win7 system is the sdcard directory. I rebooted to ubuntu and it was the same. Other than these details, the root, CWM install, nandroid backup went well.

I cannot seem to be able to rename my unwanted bloatware by appending .bak to the .apk. I do not really want to buy Root Explorer just for this small task. I tried downloading a terminal manager by Jack Palevitch but it did not work.

I'm back to the stock rom, after trying CyanogenMod 7.2.0. It was slower and I was running out of memory. Sure glad I had a Nandroid backup!

Deleting Bloatware: Typing on the phone is problematic. I used the same instructions for Flashing the recovery image (pp 1) and did an adb shell. Now you have a terminal for your phone, but from your PC. From here I did "su" and "mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system", from http://jaxov.com/2010/09/how-to-remove-stock-default-android-apps-easily/ . cd /system/apps, then, for example, "mv Bloat.apk Bloat.apj.bak". This renaming will disable the app off your phone. Here are the apps I disabled:

Email.apk.bak
Finance.apk.bak
LGWorld.apk.bak
Remote_PVR.apk.bak
SmartShare.apk.bak
TVRadio.apk.bak
TunesAndApps-1.0-1-20100916-signed.apk.bak
Videos.apk.bak
Zoompass.apk.bak
lgercui.apk.bak
selfserve_v2.2_rel3.apk.bak

I hope this works for you.
