I am trying to fix my phone as it is has lost signal due to accidentally selecting USA BAND in *#*#4636#*#* menu. In this process, I had to unlock the bootloader of HTC One E8 Dual Sim and root the phone before proceeding further using QPST, Qxdm and Mztool.
I completed flashing TWRP recovery (TWRP v2.7.1.0) and downloaded SuperSU (http://download.clockworkmod.com/superuser/superuser.zip). The SuperSU installs successfully - I guess so... with the following messages:
Updating partition details. . .
Full SELinux support is present.
Installing '/external_sd/superuser.zip'. . .
Checking for MD5 file . . .
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Installing Superuser . . .
Installing armeabi binaries. . .
Installing Superuser daemon. . .
Updating partition details. . .
Successful
I reboot the phone and find SuperUser (#) utility installed with Version 1.0.3.0. On opening it I find the following:
"The Superuser binary (su) must be updated. Please choose an installation method. Recovery mode installation is recommended for HTC devices." Options are --> Cancel/ Recovery Install. When I choose Recovery Install, I get two message - the first one disappears in a fraction of second and second message states "There was an error installing Superuser. Please send a log of the error to the developer." The phone does not boot into TWRP Recovery on choosing Recovery Install unlike other messages in forum where SU boots successfully into Recovery and allows to fix issues with SuperUser.
The Root Checker utility states "Sorry! Root access is not properly installed on this device.

I have spent few hours now to find web resources to this solution but finally I am lost and need your help. Any help/ assistance to get the phone rooted successfully is highly appreciated.
