Help How to format my micro SD card on my Asus tablet?

Am trying to format the sd card on my android tablet.
As for some reason I now have duplicate files. And when I delete one they both go.

Googled and it says unmount it and a menu comes up saying format.
Well on mine all I get is unmount and then mount.
Can you help?

Try this,Unmount the sd card and see if it gives you more options.

Well if you have a computer and the micro sd card adapter,You can format your sd card with that.
Format at fat32.

Umounting gives me the same screenshot I posted.
Tapped all over page nothing else comes up.

You don't state the model of your Asus but it appears the TF versions cannot format SD cards so you will need to use a PC for this (BTW if don't have an SD card adaptor, you may be able to do this using a mobile phone)

Is formatting the answer since all of a sudden I have 2 copies of every file on the card?

Will it mess my phone up if I try with that?
I have a card adapter to plug it into my pc. But I don't know what to do then lol Are there choices?

Not sure if it will resolve the duplicate files but I would use the card reader and HP USB Format tool and your PC. The file is here http://download.cnet.com/HP-USB-Disk-Storage-Format-Tool/3000-2094_4-10974082.html You will need to format to FAT32

Will try that if I can somehow get the card out. No luck so far.

Is it not possible to connect the tablet to pc by USB wire and do it that way?

Managed to get the card out and downloaded the program.

It says the disc is write protected don't know how that can be.

Thank you I had found that before But was not confident enough to do it
But here's what I have done, put the micro SD card into a card reader and plugged it into my pc.
Did what I 1st thought of but was not sure.. right clicked on it in my computer and click format
That has worked so am now replacing it in my tablet and fingers crossed hopefully no more duplicate files.

Everything else I tried said the card was write protected Why would that be?

I don't know. I've experienced that before in my Galaxy S4. I think it was running KK at the time so maybe the OS changed the SD card permissions. Glad you got it working, fingers crossed about the duplicates

Well so far so good lol. That seems to have worked.

folks.Why would it have said my card was locked though? It didnt have a switch on the side.

Also is there any way to rename my SD card?
As it gets confusing sometime as my tablet storage calls that SD also.

Thanks pugs. So even if i rename it on the pc it wont work when i put it back in my tablet?
My Asus wont let me move files and programs from internal storage. So it is mainly my photos etc on it.

No I trust you pugs lol won't bother. I just thought it was as simple as renaming my memory sticks. But maybe not. Don't want any more problems.
