Only joined the site tonight so forgive me if I do anything wrong.

I have a Motorola RAZRi XT890 which I've had for almost 2 years and had no problems until now and I like the phone very much.

My home screen has suddenly started flashing on and off. Its impossible to actually do anything other than swipe down to get to settings and when I do that the screen doesn't flash, which makes me think it isn't a problem with the screen.

I've backed everything up, then reset to factory settings, then its uploaded all my stuff from my google account but the home screen is still flashing.

If anyone has any ideas about this I would be very grateful for any input.

Try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them). If it stops it is caused by an app that you added.

From the Users Guide ...
  • turn off your phone,
  • then turn it back on— when you see the "Motorola" logo during power-up, press and hold both volume keys until you see the Home screen with Safe Mode in the lower left of the screen.

Thanks for your reply.

I switched my phone off and put it on charge before I read your message. When I turned it on it sticks on the Intel logo. I have rebooted several times but it just does same thing. I tried getting into safe mode following your instructions but it just carries on to the Intel logo. The phone feels hot so I have removed the sim card and sd card. Unfortunately I don't think its possible to remove the battery otherwise that would be my next step.

My XT890 has literally just started doing the flashing thing exactly as you described... is there any fix? Or is this thing literally now toast... I find it kind of annoying that it only lasted 3 months off of contract before "developing" this issue.

As mrssw says, the screen is fine - it's all of a sudden developed an issue where the homescreen cannot function correctly. I've reset the phone to factory settings but it's not helped at all...

Does anyone have any advice?

I had the problem and THEN managed to do a factory reset where upon the problem persisted.

I then did some messing around and discovered that it was either the MotoCare or the "Circles" that was causing the issue.

So I disabled them both and forced them to stop and hey PRESTO I know have a sane phone again! I've now just put novalauncher back on and that should take care of me for a while!

Cheers for the help!
