Hi all

I've had my HTC One m8 for 1.5 years now and love it. Unfortunately, I broke the screen recently and, as I didn't have warranty, I just took it to be repaired at a local mobile shop. They did a great job and screen is fine.

However, after 3 months since the repair, the phone has started acting weird. When it sees certain images (that have a lot of patterns and such) the phone will jitter and change colours. See this youtube link:

I think it has something to do with the GPU conking out – what do others think? Do you think it could easily be repaired? Would this be related to the screen replace and could it just be a loose wire somewhere inside?

Cheers!

Welcome to our AndroidForums, @bediaga :).

Wow! I'm wondering if that's a loose connection issue like you said...and I would indeed think it's related to the repair of the screen but probably not necessarily the fault of the folks that did the repair.

I don't own an M8 but maybe one of our member's that's taken theirs apart can advise you whether or not that's something you could or should undertake yourself or if it's better to send it off to the repair folks again (there are often lots of tear-down videos made for popular devices that might be illustrative).

Not sure if it's the GPU...is the device getting hot or does it exhibit this behavior when it's been running a while (i.e., with heavy use)? Could you power it off for a bit and let it cool down and see if still exhibits the issue while still relatively cool? That might help you diagnose things.

Anyway, cheers and best of luck re. this!

edit: also, is it a pressure-sensitive issue (i.e., only at the bottom of the screen)?
