I am curious if all android devices have this google play issue,or is it specific to kyrocera hydro?becuase I would buy a new phone
The Kyocera Hydro Icon and Hydro Vibe appear to be the only affected phones. No one has mentioned the Hydro Life but I would assume that it is affected as well. Very generally, only Kyocera brand phones should be affected by this problem. Other Android phones are fine.

If you do not already own a Hydro Vibe/Icon/Life I would suggest not buying one and choosing a different device instead. If you are looking for active support and fast updates I would suggest buying a phone made by one of the larger cell markers (Motorola, Samsung, LG).

uninstaling updates to g sevices, version 8, error gwallet will not run unless you update google services,,!loading your version from you guys links?hack?your not google, your not google play,I dontthink you have any affiliation with google, anyhoo triedanyway, lol, can not load atall your versions of google services from ypu guys links?lol?hack?lol?I trust randoms more than google at this point, and my phone is hideing my money
I missed this earlier. The version of Google Play Services that I uploaded was meant for an individuals problem, not the Google Play services problem as a whole. My post has been updated accordingly.

If you are not comfortable with rooting your phone to perform the workaround given in this thread I suggest that you follow Kyocera's advice and uninstall updates to Google Play Services in your Applications menu. That will allow you to use some Google apps but you will have to regularly uninstall updates to Play Services because it will check for updates even if you tell it not to.

Play services 8.3.01 when installed is being set as a device admin, when trying to uninstall the updates it prompts you to remove it as a device admin. Unfortunately the list of device admins doesn't list the Google Play services. The only way to get rid of it right now is to do a full factory reset on the device.

So either people need to fix it by rooting and copying the file and then unroot. Or just downgrade the affected apps and disable the auto updates from the play store.

Can someone answer me this, what exactly does libpredtm.so actually do? I opened it up in a notepad file. However it was mostly gibberish. Why does this magic file fix this?

Earthenhawk posted a good theory on Sept. 18:
I was staring at the diagnostic dump I posted earlier. This seems like this is the major error:
09-18 10:45:51.661 27753-27753/? E/HAL﹕ load: module=/system/lib/hw/gralloc.msm8226.so
dlopen failed: could not load library "libmm-abl.so" needed by "gralloc.msm8226.so"; caused by could not load library "libdiag.so" needed by "libmm-abl.so"; caused by could not load library "libpredtm.so" needed by "libdiag.so"; caused by library "libpredtm.so" not found

And looking on my device, the "libpredtm.so" is indeed missing, like it says. The other libraries are in the /system/vendor/lib directory, which I see is probably the reason Google is saying it's Kyocera's fault. But the problem seems like that Google's code execution is passing through Kyocera's "libdiag.so" library. Looking at the "diag.c" source code online, this seems like generally where all of the diagnostic, debugging, print messages are found. So, it looks like somebody on the Google Play team may have left some debugging messages turned on when they released their latest code. Or a previous version of the Google Play Services may have provided a version of a non-vendor-specific libdiag.so (or equivalent code) that eclipsed the /system/lib/vendor copy, maybe? I don't have a working device to look at to see if that's right. Kyocera didn't publish their (probably proprietary because i couldnt find any references to libpredtm online) libpredtm.so, which is why it's not found, but they shouldn't have had to, if they didnt intend for Google to use their libdiag.so APIs to debug their code. All speculation of course.

THANK YOU!!! I've been living with this issue for months by rolling back Google Play Services to a pre-September build....but the most recent updates of Gapps were demanding an update of Google Services to work. Creating the "libpredtm.so" folder solved everything!

PS - Kingroot did not work for me to gain root on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat). However, Kingo Root (yes, apparently it is a different app) worked via the Windows desktop client connected using USB debugging. I unrooted easily afterward using the same program.

Glad that Ryan's fix helped and that KingoRoot worked for you.

And KingRoot does not always work on the first try. Each time you run it the app will use a different rooting method. It looks like KingRoot, KingoRoot and RootGenius all use the same exploits but KingRoot seems to be the one developing/stealing new root methods and pushing them to users to figure out what works on which devices.

GUYS BREAKING NEWS!
Kyocera is looking for people to test their official update! In order to get the update, DM them on twitter @KyoceraMobile and tell them you would like to get the update for the Hydro vibe, you need to give them your Carrier, and your MEID (the number Labeled "Hex" in your settings or under your battery). They'll coordinate with your carrier to have the update sent to your phone! I don't know if it will work on root, you might have to unroot to try it. Good luck! Maybe we get android 5.x? who knows cx ;) Good luck all!

So, I have that firmware update for my Kyocera Icon, but yet my Google Play apps will not work and that is completely stopping me from playing any new games or accessing any new apps at all due to the constant different crashing. "Your Google Play Services Have Crashed" which from reading this post, you seem to have went through this longer than I have. But my point remains, I am still going through these problems while having that most recent Firmware of 4.4.2, unless I am just doing something wrong I don't know of xD

Kyocera did not update the Android version with the new patch. You need to opt in to the test group on Twitter to actually receive the update before it is released. The Kyocera Twitter account is @KyoceraMobile.

By that, do you mean that they have a working update already for the test group? Like my apps would be fixed if I were apart of said group?
Or is that a theory?
(Not trying to sound like a d*ck if I come off that way)

No worries. it is a legitimate question.

Joshawa675 confirmed that Kyocera's update works to fix google apps for the test user group a few posts above yours:
Update! Kyocera sent my phone the update last night!

Every app that I couldnt get to work before is now fully functional on Play services 8.3.01

The discussion about 4.4.2 was because Ryan wanted to know if they actually updated the Android version to Lollipop with the new update or if it was specifically a fix for the Google apps issue.
