Thanks! Got me past the Incoming screen, but had to use "SMARTTLS" for outgoing security.

Tried these Incoming settings but had a warning message: incoming server does not support SSL.

Flippin' Hotmail. I should probably just join the cool kids and get Gmail anyway.

I'm having this problem on my Galaxy S2 now, so frustrating!

I've configured incoming server settings using Doit2it's method above however it won't configure outgoing server settings. I have tried both SSL and TLS security (those are the only options I have).

With SSL I get a message "Setup could not finish - unable to connect to server"
and with TLS I get "Setup could not finish - Incorrect user name or password"

I had changed my password this morning when I logged in on the work's computer, then when I checked my phone a bit later on I got the "failed to sign in" error message when it was performing it's hourly sync.
So I entered my new password in the incoming server settings and it was fine, it retrieved my e-mails from the Hotmail server however it wouldn't let me reply or send a message.
So I entered the new password in the outgoing server settings and that's when it all went wrong, I got the "Setup could not finish - User name or password incorrect" message (even though I'd just successfully entered it into the incoming server settings!)
To try and resolve it I deleted the whole e-mail acount and then tried to re-add it, which proved to be the ultimate two fingured gesture from Microsoft.

Any ideas?

Hello guys,

i got HTC desire 616 dual sim and each time i go with the settings it gives me "username or password is incorrect", although i am sure they're correct as i tried to sign in on the laptop with the username and password i am using and it worked fine.

i used these settings

User name: xxxx@outlook.com (FULL EMAIL ADDR, not just account name)
Server - pop3.live.com
Security - SSL
Port - 995

Outgoing:
Server - smtp.live.com
Security - TLS
Port - 587
Require sign in checked
User name - xxxx@outlook.com

any another settings.

the security type is SSL/TLS Accept all certificates,

The old Outlook.com app used to be useful for syncing a microsoft account. The current version is just a dummy download whose only purpose is to force you to install the new Outlook app by overwriting the useful app and replacing it with a message to install the new one.

The new Outlook app is designed to let you view Microsoft email and calendars from within that app, but does not provide the ability to sync calendars in a way that other calendar apps can be used with them (or at any rate that was the case a few months ago - for obvious reasons I have not tested it since).

For an Outlook email app I'd just put the settings into my preferred email client. With both Aquamail and MailDroid I remember it requiring very little setup, cannot say about any stock email app.
