Can you tell me how to get my contacts photo to appear when i am sent an email?
I have set them all up on my pc with a photo. But it does not appear on their emails.
Even sending a test email to myself does not show my photo.

I have never seen that happen on any phone.
It takes up too much memory/space in the message header, unless you can find an email app that will link it to your contact....
but email addresses and contacts almost never have the same exact format....

I think you are whistling in the wind.

for me? I don't want it, the message headers are already jumbled up so much it is difficult to figure out who sent what.

Yes my photo shows. Where did you add the pictures anyway? On your phone? The picture that shows up on mine is the one associated with my Google account, added when I sign in to Google on my PC, editing my Google profile. The pics of my contacts are their Google profile pics as well, or pics that synced to my Google contacts from my phone.

Yup, I think ChanChan05 hit the nail on the head. My contact photos show up in gmail app in my phone...I have those photos loaded to my Google contacts.

Hi chan again lol
I had added the pictures to my phone contacts when I first bought it.
Also to my Gmail contacts Account on my pc.

I tried deleting all my phone Gmail contacts to get it to re sync them.
It did, but still no pictures in emails and now keep getting a message on my phone saying I had deleted too many contacts! Even though they are back just the same.

Hi. I am still getting nowhere regarding my contact photos in Gmail emails I send or receive.
I have 2 Gmail accounts. Set up on 2 separate phones.
Other peoples contacts photos appear finally. After I added them to my phone contacts.
But not mine.
I have added my photo on the pc at the top right of the webpage And also in Settings.
But still no joy.
Where does it come from to show?
I know its not Google+ as I don't use it Nor do some of my friends.

Am I supposed to add myself as a contact on my phone contacts?
This is very confusing as everybody I ask say there's appears automatically.
Hoping someone can set me straight here.

on my phone, the only photos that show up, are those that I have specifically placed in the Contact's own record.

I only have a few photos. My family and a couple of friends.
When I get an email from them, their photo shows up.

I have all of my contacts linked to Google now, I have unlinked and deleted all contacts not linked to Google.
For me, I was getting duplicate contact listings with having some on the phone only, and some thru Google.

Hi AZ thanks for replying. Don't know what I am missing.
So how have you linked them?

Simply by always choosing "Google" as the contacts list to put them in.... there are two options for a New Contact, Google or Phone. always choose Google if you want to be assured that you will never, ever, loose your contacts.... it is wise to backup your contacts elsewhere also....
I use SuperBackup and send my backups to my email address.

Does your own photo show up on your phone in messages and emails?
yes, it does
I just took a snapshot of my phone, but decided not to present it here, as i has "real names" that need to stay private.
but, there are icon images of messages from "me" to "me"... I use email as a daily reminder for things to do.
and there are icon images of those to whom I email a lot....

On all of the emails from anyone else, it is just a stock icon with two Letters, first name, and last name... => FL for first/last

I added photos to my phone contacts and also on pc to gmail contacts Is that correct?
yes, that should work. I only add them to the phone though, but the PC should show the same icons.
On my messages from "ME: gmail" the phone shows me an icon.
On my messages from "ME: yahoo" the phone just shows a square box with JC to match the first letter of my first name, with the 1st letter of my Last name.

I just now thought of looking at my Textra messages: there you only get the name of the contact, not the images.

Textra Icons.jpg

note that it says 'Me SMS'
it does that because I created a contact called "Me" with my own phone number.
makes it super simple to send myself a quick text message, or an email.
In Aqua Mail, a message to ME from ME will display my personal icon.

Hi AZ. Checked and my phone contacts are all linked to my Gmail account on my phone.
My photo... I added it when I bought the phone.
I also have one I added to in Gmail on PC.
But on emails it still doesn't show.. Even if I send an email from me to me.
I too find it useful to send myself reminders that way.

So I seem to have my photo everywhere lol..

1. On my phone as the contact at the top of the list
2. As the owner of the phone or tablet.
3. In Gmail at top right where I sign out.
4. In Gmail in Settings add photo.

So what am I missing????

I like everything in order and it's driving me nuts.

You are missing the part that you shouldn't have any phone contacts at all. You should only have Google contacts. My contacts on the phone aren't linked to my Google contacts. My Google contacts are the ones on my phone. Not sure if you understood that. Lol.

Could you post a screenshot of your Gmail app? Of course block the sensitive stuff.

Precisely what he said..... and I tried to explain that, but did not get the job done.
I have totally removed all PHONE CONTACTS period.... that causes duplicate contact entries and is just a total frickin horror show.

I actually got into that mess just last night.... I have a friend that I have known for years..... I was talking with him via a forum, and he posted up for someone else a phone #.... hmmm, that don't look like the number I use for him...... so I go looking, and sure enough, I have that number buried somewhere, and also have the old number he used to have 5 years ago..... one was in Google, and the other in PHONE....

the only way I was able to fix that mess, was just delete both contacts.... I tried over, and over, to unlink them. I even went to Google Contacts and looked on that list.... there it only showed the old number, not the new number.... so, I just said 'F' it and deleted both of the contact listings, and created a brand new contact list for him in Google..

that fixed my problem.
