Genre tags won't update

So, I'm using my stock music player on my Samsung S5 mini. I took a bunch of music files from my SD card on to my PC, edited the genre tags and then copied them back to my SD card. I cleared the day from "all media" and when the stock app finds the tracks again, the genre tags have changed back to what they were before.

Copy the files back to the PC and sure enough, the tags are all wrong. Change them again on the PC, copy back to phone and they change again.

Any ideas?
