Help My keyboard will not come up

Help! my keyboard will not come up when I select a spot to type like a search bar or a text message. My phone is an LG Optimus 7 and I use the LG Keyboard. When it stopped working I went to Language & Input and switched it to the other it came with, Swype. Then I just got a pop up saying Swype is no longer working. I switched back to LG Keyboard, but nothing comes up. I've restarted my phone a few times and even unplugged/replugged the Battery. Is there anything anyone can do to help me out? I'm clueless.

I should add, in the Language & Input area it has listed Google voice typing and a dark checkmark I can click and under it is LG Keyboard and under that one is Swype. However LG and Swype are lighter colored and pre-checked and I can't uncheck them. Does that help with anyone being able to tell me whats going on? When I click on the LG Keyboard options, the screen goes back to the Language & Input section after a second without any prompting too. Can't figure out whats going on

I found Google keyboard in the settings but not lg keyboard either. what I would do, is download AOSP keyboard 4.1 (which is what I use) and use that one. look for the apk online, move it to your phone's storage, and install it. then activate it like you would any other keyboard. if that still doesn't work, and AOSP keyboard doesn't show up either, then I'm pretty sure it's not a keyboard issue. I would go ahead and factory reset. (make sure to backup all your data!)

I have the same problem on th LG G3
In settings i enabled tge Google KB.
The LG KB is there but the enable icon is greyed out. In the settings I made my default language US English because it had been set to CDN.
Still the Google KB doesn't come up ...only the default LG.
My operating system updated today along with all apps.
Suggestions?

I had the same problem happen on my wife's LG 3 after the system update.
What worked for me was going into the "Language and input" settings, and long press on "Default keyboard" section just above the list of keyboard, with check boxes, that are installed on the phone and choose Google keyboard as the new default keyboard.

Of course you would need to first have the Google keyboard installed.
