Help Unlocking Sprint Lg G2

Yesterday Sprint unlocked my Lg g2 phone for gsm utms use outside the us. Am planning a extended trip to europe and wanted to use this phone for a local sim vs carrying a gms phone.

Have not checked that this unlock is working but all the right mesages came up as the phone rebooted from the Sprint unlock over a wi fi network.

Sprint appears to have a requirement to have the phone for 90 days before they will unlock for international use. They waved this since i only had the phone 60 days...but am leaving shortly. Perhaps they are feeling some pressure from the Verizon issue of the G2 which is unlocked out of the box...or the T Mobile plan that support use of their phones in over a 100 countries...with out extra charges for data and text.

Long story short...the Sprint LG G2 phone will work on international GSM systems.....if unlocked by Sprint (i am hoping......)

Hate to tell you guys but none of you know what you are talking about when it comes to this matter, I have unlocked a Sprint LG G2 for US and International use, including data settings (although the data takes a couple extra steps... with NO SYS UI crashes.. I bet you all are listening now aren't you!
Will you please email me and let me know how you do this it will be greatly appreciated.

Since it's not a GSM phone, no. That's like asking if you can change the attack angle on the wings on your car.

A Sprint phone uses CDMA technology. Metro is TMobil, GSM technology. You're asking your radio to pick up a TV show, picture included. CDMA phones don't work on GSM tyowers and GSM phones don't work on CDMA towers.

ACTUALLY , some cdma phones can be connected in GSM networks. SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 verizon come unlocked for any GSM company around the world, galaxy mega and some models of galaxy s3 for sprint can be unlocked and with the right equipment and setting arrangement they become GSM phones. so technically you CAN ask your radio to pick up a TV show with the pictures included... educate yourself before speaking.

It is possible to SIM unlock an LG LS980(Sprint) for use on the T-Mobile network. Message if anybody needs help as I've done it twice today and can help.

Can you give me steps on how you did it? I'm stuck with an old cracked lg double play & I HATE seeing my Lg G2 without service, I mean, JUST LOOK AT IT! It's such a beast of a phone & I can't even use it :(

Hello. I am going to give you the steps I made to unlock the Sprint LS980 G2. Sorry I cant post links yet.
Head over to XDA and download cloudy G3 for LS980 which you can Google. You will have to be rooted and have a custom backup. After you download G3 follow all steps especially
*Full Wipe (Dalvik, Cache, System & Data)
*Flash KitKat baseband
*Install the CloudyG3
*Choose your variant in Aroma = Sprint
and have it operational press *#*#4636#*#* and choose gsm\cdma\lte. Should now have access to your carrier. A few helpful apps to have from play store is Radio Switcher and Tweakker which allows you to change radio without using the *#*# method and Tweakker will allow you to change APNs to desired carrier. One last apk to download from the store is *Build Prop Editor. I used this to tweak my T Mobile carrier to show 4G before this my signal just had an H. The list to change build prop is below. This is what the Build Prop should say on your phone if not change to below description for T Mobile. *ro.carrier and ro.build.target_operator can bet set to "TMO", "ATT", or "spr". Thus allowing you to use on GSM carriers.
*"spr" is not affected by the 1 signal bar bug.

ro.build.target_county: US
ro.carrier=TMO
ro.build.target_operator=TMO
persist.service.crash.enable=1
ro.telephony.default_network=9
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=0

Gain root access (can't hold your hand just show you the way, figure it out..), install root toolbox free and edit build.prop settings, search for ro.build.target_operator= and it will say ro.build.target_operator = SPR , change SPR to OPEN, reboot and open Root Toolbox again to edit build.prop then change OPEN in target_operator to lowercase spr so that is ro.build.target_operator=spr and VOILA unlocked for gsm with NO system UI crashes. If you just change SPR to OPEN and save it and leave it then you will get many crashes. To enable data add carrier's apn (option is usually disabled) so the workaround being install tweakker from the play store (free) and follow steps to get apn working for data and use app 'Network' from PlayStore to change network modes as the options are disabled by default because of Sprint Nazis.. I've almost got this working, could you tell me what 'network modes' you selected in the network app. I can't seem to get voice working? Net10 messaged me my phone number but I don't think I'm quite there yet.
Thanks much

This works very nicely - but the editor should be ROM Toolbox Free not as you have said - which does not seem to have an editor. Many thanks for your post.
