Root No quick charge from provided charger

Okay, so, while I am initially disappointed with the standard charger having a non-removable cable, it at least does quick charge... or rather, did.

It seems like no matter how many times I unplug and reinsert the cable for the quick charger it came with into the phone, it simply will not quick charge at all. It still will quick charge from the external battery I have here, so I know it still can.

I picked this up as a second charger, mainly to keep at work if I double over. Still using stock factory one at home.

From where, though? Seems that of the two, it's the factory charger that's refusing to enable turbo charging though.

What is strange is that with the factory charger, it then insists it's "charging over USB", while with the battery, it's "charging over AC". And now with the stock charger, it basically takes an eternity to work.

Plugs/sockets in the factory charger. If they are clean then it would appear that the cable is bad.

(I'm using the Turbo charger with the Droid Turbo 2 and don't know if it is the same one you are using.)

Tried that; and weirdly, the factory charger does appear to quick charge the external battery just fine, too.

Since I was still having this problem, and the problem where the phone seems to actively make bluetooth audio too quiet, which is especially bothersome with YouTube and navigation, just contacted Motorola, at first over facebook before directed to their email. Seems they're offering to replace the phone entirely. :eek:

Well, with that said, I need to look up a way to quickly flash back to bone stock. Suggestions?

If you are root-ed I will move this discussion to the root sub-forum so you can get some suggestions.

If it is root-ed I am surprised that they are willing to replace it.

If it is root-ed flash back to stock and see if you still have the problem?

I'm rooted out of necessity. I'd been running the TruPure X ROM as well to try and make the most out of the NRB on this phone. At stock it would piss away its battery just like every other NRB phone I ever had.

Even if by chance going back to stock fixes the bluetooth audio problem, I doubt it's going to fix the charger.

It might also have to do with the fact that I bought the phone in April, so it's barely even six months into its warranty period. And the primary issue (charger refusing to quick charge) is a hardware issue.

Looks like cursory googling matched with your suggestion. Don't have the time to do this right away, but it does appear self explanatory. Guess I'll know what to do soon as I get an ETA.

Hate that you have had a bad experience with the XPE. I'm still running TruePure on mine with Xposed and Gravity Box. So far, no issues.

I don't know about the Pure warranty. Root-ed or previously root-ed device are usually not covered. Did they know it was root-ed?

It never came up. I just know that the charger worked as intended for the first month, and suddenly just... didn't. I personally thought I would have just been issued a new charger, not a whole replacement phone. :eek:

Well, this is aggravating. Awkwardly, when I got the follow-up call, the attendant was saying that the phone was showing out of warranty, and like it had been purchased on April 2015... not April 2016, when I purchased it from Fry's Electronics. And of course, to correct that they need the receipt for it. Which being on that god-awful thermal paper, I don't have a scan of. :mad:

My GUESS is that when they know it is or was root-ed there will not be a replacement. On previous devices when they found out after-the-fact that it had been root-ed and already replaced they sent a bill for the cost of the replacement.

Well, the (added) fee for out-of-warranty was $100 on top of the $25 advance RMA thing. Just trying to decide what to do next, in a cost effective manner.

Those are prices for never root-ed. Find out the cost for a root-ed device.

Try a different OEM charger and see if you get the same result?

Not going to be able to find one around here. Or at least an OEM one. Best buy for example still happily displays it as an available choice, but refuses to sell any accessories for this phone.

Fry's electronics is where I got this one, buy also had meager to no accessories. The only battery pack they had was one of those models that explicitly was incompatible with this phone.

Update on my end. Decided to say "f*ck it" and look for a replacement charger. Best Buy wanted far too much for either a home or car charger. Swinging over to Fry's Electronics, where i first purchased the phone, and I found I was able to pick up a separate home and car charger for the price that Best Buy wanted for *either* qualified quick charger to use with the phone. At least the home one even provides an extra USB charging port while it's at it.

Now, if I could get a solution to making the bluetooth audio loud and clear again, I would have the software perfect on this phone. Or as AVGN would so put it, I'd "Have this by the ass, yeah!"
