Commando Internal Phone Memory down to 40mb

Is there any way to see on the phone what is using up most of the internal phone memory?

I can't install any new apps because it says, the phone has insufficient memory. I was trying to install an internal memory cleaner app. In addition, as the internal phone memory has gotten closer to 40mb, I can really see the reduction in processing speed when doing things on the phone.

How can I view or see what is using up almost 355-360mb of internal storage, which is only leaving about 40mb free?

If you can't actually install anything due to insufficient internal storage, it could be difficult to find what's taking up the space. Perhaps do a factory reset and start the thing afresh.

This phone has only 1GB total internal storage anyway, so as soon as you start to do pretty much anything with it, it's just going to fill up again. The Casio Commando is a 2.2 Froyo device from 2010, and even the minimum internal storage now is 4GB.

Thank you for the reply. As I mentioned, I'm currently hovering around 40mb free space with around 360mb in use. I don't know if this phone has 1gb as you mentioned, because the in use plus free space only comes up to 400mb.

Anyone know of a way to view what is using the +- 360mb of internal memory on the phone, or is there an app that will do that function?

You should give some serious thought into investing into a higher level phone, or at least accept the fact that you cannot expect this phone to be anything more than a minimal performer. There simply aren't enough system resources available for this phone to do more than very basic tasks. If anything move as much of your personal files to a microSD card to open up some storage space but there's little more you can do. Things like emptying app caches will only be a temporary fix as they will have to be restored each time you do various things on your phone. It might be worth doing a Factory Reset as mikedt suggested to clean out any unnecessary cruft you might have installed over the years but be sure to back up any personal data first. Again, this phone is quite dated and is by design a very basic model, and you need to set your expectations accordingly.

I understand the limitations of this phone, and I am willing to live with them. It has been a good phone. At this point, I'm not interested in a newer, higher level phone. The point I may have mistakenly left out of my first post and what might have been missed as inferred by everyone is, the internal memory issue is not something that occurs right outta the box. As time goes on, the available memory drops. When I first switched to this phone, the available internal memory was well over 100mb. The drop to 40mb, where it really starts to slow is a gradual thing.

That is why I was hoping to see what has chewed into the available memory, so I could free that up if it's not something I need to keep around. I have minimal apps on this phone, because I understand it's limitations with memory power. Mosts apps that I use, when I'm not going to use them for a while, I will just delete them and then re-install on an as needed basis. I suspect a factory data reset will free up some, but I'd prefer to not do that, have done it before, because of the call log and texts that go bye bye in the process. Thank you again.

Months later and I'm back. Thank you svim......Disk Usage is a great app as you said! I now can see that "Dialer Storage" is a big offending hog of internal memory usage. In researching this, I see SMS messages are saved in Dialer Storage.

I do have a few SMS threads with waaaaayyy too many messages, but I can't delete the whole thread of messages because there are some I want to save. When I have time, I go thru and delete messages one by one in the thread, but that takes FOREVER! Is there some sort of other app I can get that will allow me to delete SMS messages by checking a box and selecting which messages to delete, then mass deleting a grip of SMS at once? Deleting them one at a time takes too long. I am using the default SMS Text App that came on the Casio Commando that is called "Messaging."

The only SMS message delete options I have found are "Delete Thread" or "Delete Message 1 at a time." I need something like my email app has where I can put a check mark in a box to the left of the message and then delete multiple messages at once.

I'm back to this thread since my phone has been hovering around 10mb of internal memory available for months, and it's painfully slow to use the phone. I know my lack of house keeping on SMS messages caused this, so I need to fix it.
