Gmail vs Inbox for Android

How much do you use each? I tried inbox and hated it but wondering if I'm alone. I use email a bit differently than other people since it's packed with business stuff.
I have been struggling with my new android email function. I tried a few clients, and the only one that seems to sync with my IMAP servers is Gmail. (i.e., when I delete a message but have not purged, it disappears from the Gmail inbox like it should. The other clients show messages as still there.

I have not figured out how to put two icons on my phone for two inboxes. a real nuisance-- I miss my old Lumia Windows phone that made that so easy. Anyone have an idea?

Try the gmail widget. You can select which account and folder to show.

I switched to Inbox and haven't looked back since. I love how it organizes my email by Bundling them if they're Promos / Social / Updates / Forums / Finance related etc, which allows me to quickly see the emails that are important. My favorite Bundle is Trips, where Inbox automatically knows when I'm going on a trip and organizes all of the travel related emails in one easy to find place. Don't forget you can make your own custom Bundles! I also like using the Pin feature for organizing the most important emails.

I use them both, for different reasons. Love Inbox and the snooze feature. It's invaluable to me. As are the trip bundles. I use Gmail for my work account, partly because it's not a Gmail account (but is a Google Apps account) and partly because or the functionality of attachments. More calendar invites are supported, Drive integration feels smoother, etc.

Gmail for me.

Gmail labels are great...and unlike folders in outlook, you can tag the same email with multiple labels.

I have heavily customized gmail with filters (rules) that I set up on pc. It can apply a label or archive a message and most of my recurring emails get prelabeled by the filters, leaving only a few for me to label manually. Very useful. At least then I know exactly what the logic is. I'm not comfortable with inbox....It feels like turning over control for organizing my email to someone else.

delayed send function can be added to gmail to act similar to snooze. Discussed here

I just tried inbox again now and I still don't fully understand what it achieves that Gmail doesn't.

I've rules which auto label a lot of emails so my inbox is relatively organised anyway, Inbox just over complicates things. :\
The big advantage of Inbox (to me) over just using rules to automatically label/sort/filter/handle incoming mail is the ability to Pin a message to the inbox (so that it hangs around until you can address it), mark it as Done (pretty much like archiving it in Gmail - moves it out of the Inbox), or Snooze a message until a later date and time or even place. I use snoozing a lot for shipping emails (so that I get reminded on the estimated day of delivery) or for things I need to follow up on (either at home or at work, or even at the grocery store). It's stuff that you probably could do with Gmail, but Inbox just makes it so easy to manage.

I love only having messages in my inbox which I plan to deal with immediately. Everything else gets archived or snoozed until I need to deal with it. It's a much more task-oriented approach to email which seems to suit my style perfectly.

Granted, my inbox was out of control before I switched to Inbox. Inbox helped me get a handle on it and actually become more productive and responsive.

I readily admit that it's not a solution for everyone though, so I'm not going to try to argue and convince you that Inbox is the mail client to end all mail clients or anything. I'm just explaining why I like it and why it works well for me. :)
