Hi,

Sorry for the dig but I needed to say thanks to those who put the effort in on this thread!

I put my M8 on charge last night to wake up to what seemed to be a brick, 2 mins of holding all 3 buttons and battery calibration worked!

Interestingly I used an apple usb outlet for the first time, I can't say for sure that's what caused it as usb is fairly standardised, but I think I'll be buying new OEM charging stuff and using that from now.

I have an HTC Accend 2 and this is what I do. Not charging and not coming on is frequent.
-Plug you phone into your USB and power supply that came with your phone.
-Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
-Wait for about 15 seconds, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Then I walk away and in about a minute I can hear the phone come on.

-Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
-Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
-Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
A factory data reset is well known to solve a number of problems, definitely.

Access to recovery, where you're getting on your Ascend, is slightly different on this phone.

You can also get to the factory data reset through your main settings on your HTC.

If you have an Ascend 2, that's a Huawei and not an HTC - likely why it doesn't have the same recovery access steps.

Sorry. Update- I have an HTC Desire C. I had an old Accend 2 before.

The same thing you are all describing happened to my phone as well, and I tried almost everything and nothing worked so far. Then, I plugged my phone into my laptop and held both the POWER and the VOLUME UP buttons for about 5 seconds and that worked. I'm not sure if having it plugged in to my laptop had anything to do with it, but you might want to try the same button combo.

About a year ago my Desire C wouldn't turn on after a full night of charging. I tried all the voodoo tricks and button presses (I didn't put my battery in the freezer). It was fully charged but simply wouldn't turn on. I got a new phone, but kept the old one. I pulled it out today to try again. In my case it was the power button. I had dropped it, and when I was hitting the power button, I don't think it was connecting. With the back panel off, I pushed in the the power button with a small screw driver, It powered up. But it's finicky, I transferred some contacts and SMS from old Desire C to Desire 601 and C shut down again, and I have not been able to get back on again, but I'm going to take off the front panel (or try anyway). Maybe I will be able to see what the problem is.
