I am a lowly student aspiring to get CM mod ported to the Ultimate 2, however I know nothing about ROM development and since you guys know this phone inside and out how might I go about learning android to the point of ROM development?

ROM development is fairly easy once you get the hang of it, but it requires lots of time and lots of knowledge. The best way to learn ROM development is by searching for tutorials on how to create a ROM, the L41C is fairly similar but in it's own way different. I recently re-obtained a L41C just to play with. I suggest you become familiar with the files android uses and how it uses them, this can be done by downloading any ROM and looking around in it. When you install a ROM make sure it is for your exact device. That is VERY important.
Creating CM is not so easy, if you build it from source it can be quite the proces. Porting it is fairly simple, but to get all the ported functions working is a whole different story I have heard. It would be cool to have CM, but we already have AOKP, which is like CM but more stock. One developer told me that CM was created, but never released because lack of interest and number of bugs. I was able to find AOKP here: http://tracfonedevs.createaforum.com/lg-ultimate-2/(rom)-(4-4-4)-(wip)-aokp-for-the-lg-ultimate-2/ You might be able to ask them some questions there, as they are more TracFone oriented, but it's not as active as it once was.

I had cm booting and functional just no radio wifi only ive sinced switched devices best thing is to just read and search guides
