Root Using Headphone jack mutes phone mic

Is this fixable. I've read that this is likely a Samsung issue :/. If anyone can shed some light on the matter that would be helpful.

No and no.

Simply put, when a set of headphones are put in, it mutes the mic to stop crosstalk on the 4th band. It does this on all phones. It's a hardware limitation. There is nothing you can do except get bluetooth headphones.

I call b/s.

I plug my phones into my aux cable to play music in my car. my HTC evo, Samsung epic, n now my lg mytouch all allowed me to use my mic while headphones/aux cable was plugged in. The call is rooted to my car speakers. (talk about hands free talking).

My Samsung admire I'd the only device that didn't allow me to keep my phone plugged in to my aux to have a conversation threw my car speakers.

I haven't dig that deep into the system or kernel but I'm sure it can be activated.

I wasn't lying, it is hardware that happens. When you have 'HEADPHONES' plugged in, and no mic, there is a 4th band on the iPhone headphones, that are part of the negative band on the 3 strip headphones. So, when you plug a 3 band cable in, it mutes it. Every phone I have had, does this. I am sure there is a setting in the kernel for it, but that is some BS that you have to go through all that for it. I said 'no' because it's not really that important. But, I guess it would be nice.

I have the LG optimus chat c555 (Android 2.2.2)
for the 1st month i owned the phone life was good i used, a Aux audio cable (3.5mm) to route sound into the audio system in my truck. then out of the blue it stopped working, a little troubble shooting revealed that my headphone jack started detecting a external microphone where there was not. Inturn the phone would disable its internal microphone.

my solution to this was to buy a 3.5mm aux cable with build in microphone from future shop, this braught about a new problem. i found that the external microphone wouldnt work correctly (griffen) UNLESS i unpluged the phone from the power source...(not an issue for me)

so then voice search starts giving me connection problem ya know...
cause i like to text and drive n all.. i found turning my data plan or wireless connections on solved it

peace :) hope i help.
android FTW

Hi! I had this issue, but fixed it. I have a Samsung Galaxy s5. All you have to do is go into settings, then accessories (near the bottom), and switch the HDMI from Stereo to Surround. Hope that helps!
