My camera quality terrible after the most recent update... anyone else?

I'm not imagining this. I don't know why the image quality is so bad, but it's bad enough that I'm considering buying a different phone. I'm not asking for the world, but I need a camera that takes a usable image.

Here's a picture from my coworker's 12MP cell phone camera:

And here's the same image from my camera... with 13MP, should be BETTER, not WORSE:

Lens was cleaned immediately before this picture.
This isn't going to cut it for me. I'm dangerously close to just having to leave this thing in the toolbox for the thermal camera, and purchase another phone for every day usage.

It wasn't this bad prior to the software update. My build number is LTE_S0201121.0_S60_0.028.00

Dear Mr Todorov,

Thank you for contacting our service regarding your CAT S60.

We would like to inform you that on any type of phone or camera, there will always be a difference between a photo with the Flash on, and photo without.

If the environment is not that bright, and you take a photo with no Flash, your photo will be darker.

Therefore, we do not believe there is any issue with your phone camera.

Do not hesitate to contact us again if you have any further questions.

Yours sincerely,

Eric

I don't know how much of a comfort it is to you if I tell you that I have also noticed considerable photo quality drop after the update...

There seems to have been a change in the sharpening postprocessor - it just goes bonkers sometimes. It said in the update description, if I remember correctly, about "an improvement in camera quality" of sorts. Guess they tried to tweak it

Finally got another moment to update this.

Since I got dinged by lvt for comparing my phone to my friend's Pixel.

Here is a picture of my laptop that I took with my S60 previously, prior to the software update:

And here is a picture of the same laptop, same location, same lighting, taken today with the same S60, post software update:

So... I don't see how it can even be disputed, that Bullitt screwed up the camera. If we could just roll back the software, that would be great. I have not seen a single benefit from this most recent updgrade, but I have seen a few negatives now, the biggest of which is the camera.

I didn't notice a fuzziness like in the OP's picture, but there is this debayering related artifact now. If you point the camera at some kind of a grid like windows and rotate it around the lens axis, you will notice dark ghosting that follows the grid pattern. This was definitely not there before the upgrade.

Another mildly annoying change is that the scaling of the screen brightness slider control has been changed. There is a lot less precision at the left side of the slider which makes it harder to dial in the desired low level backlight.

I am experiencing the exact same thing. I thought maybe somehow water had gotten into my phone from humidity but i guess its a software issue. i tried a few different apps and it didnt help. I love taking pictures and this is a huge bummer

Same for me, after latest update two weeks ago I noticed that camera quality decreased. I am so disappointed with this phone (it is my third cat s60 since purchasing, first didn't survived shallow water, second died without reason, third has broken glass and terrible camera after update). Worst phone ever.
