My wife has a Samsung J5, there are two apps on the main screen Gallery (blue background with yellow star) and Photos (Multi coloured origami windmill pic).

She says that she has set the phone to store all photos on the SD card (as the J does not have a big memory) but I don't think this is the case as some photos she has taken do not appear on the SD card. She wanted to transfer the photos she has taken to the PC, however when we open the phone in windows explorer and check the SD card, there are only 60 photos.

The photos app has about 300 (these also include some whatsapp images) these are arranged under two tabs Photos and Albums.

How do I navigate to the Photos app to copy these to the PC.

Many thanks in advance.

The Gallery app is the Android default photo library manager, the Photos app is Google's photo library manager. Both can manage her photo collection stored on her phone but Photos includes a really important background function in that it allows her to backup up her entire photo library into her online Google account. Once that function is enabled additions, alterations, and any other changes to the photos on her phone will be summarily changed in her online backup, and vice-versa. To remotely access her photo library on your PC, just use a browser to go to https://photos,google.com
Also, it would probably be beneficial to dig into the Settings of both apps and change the options to better fit in with her own preferences.

She could just stop using the Gallery app and use the Photos app on her phone, but if she prefers the Gallery's user interface over Photos but at the very least continue using Gallery but keep the Photos app automatic backup and sync function running in the background. Backing up her photo library is really, really important.
