Help Hi I don't know what has happened but passwords is greyed out now on Chrome

Hi I don't know what has happened but passwords is greyed out now on Chrome. I removed my google account on laptop but did not help. I am scared to do it on Samsung galaxy S6. In case i loose everything passwords is greyed out and won't sync. Also why is your credit cards synced I don't have one on my account. just thinking of others that;s just asking to be hacked is it not? Anyway back to my problem, It says I have encrypted them. Does that affect backups of your phone? Also what is the default things that can be synced when you go into accounts? Books and movies and something else wasn't synced so I just put all to sync. Would just like to know if I need to turn them off again.

And is there a way to unencrypt your passwords? So I can get syncing. I honestly haven't a clue how I encrypted them. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Do you remember your password? According to what I read here, you can log on to your passwords page from any other browser, which stores the details of your logins, unless you made a point of disabling that option. If they're encrypted and you can't remember your pass-phrase, there's a link for 'reset sync.' Your credit card info isn't synced; it's stored in one place and you access it by logging in - like Google Play - but only if you put one in there. See if these articles help you retrace your steps and you can go in and delete or reset whatever you need to:

I will give this a try asap. My uncle has passed away. So going down to see my cousins and aunt. Thanks very much for the reply. By the way you won't see me help anyone on here. It's because I don't have a clue. Or I would.

I'm so sorry to hear of your uncle! I hope your family visit isn't too stressful.

If you wait till you think 'you have a clue,' or enough clue to suit your arbitrary standards, you'll never get around to helping anybody. Of course the thought has occurred to me too! I don't know shit and know it, so I never stop learning, but there is something I do know: how to find out what I need to know.

I'm used to being all by myself out in the sticks and there is nobody around to whom I can delegate the work if I want to know what I'm doing and stay out of trouble. I've been in lots of trouble, maybe your kind too! Then I had to get myself out. When you get out of this situation and you meet somebody who has it, you'll go over and help - won't you? Of course you will! So let's hear no more about what you 'can't do.' :)

The first thing I'll do, and for some mysterious reason, it's about the last thing most people want to do, is to ask people who know. And I love research. It's a harmless enough entertainment for a lady (and a paranoid survivalist) and I'll do it all night if a question interests me. I'll try. I can't find everything by myself so that's when I'm hoping more knowledgeable people step in, but you'll get my best effort if I've taken on a question. Mr. Murphy is always waiting. As soon as we bypass learning about a problem because we don't have it and don't want to bother, it's going to happen to us; at least that's the way I think, and live. Anything that can happen will happen. Will it happen to you? It's up to you to make sure it doesn't. :)

Hi there thanks for your help. I haven't followed up on my problem because of the loss of my uncle. But I did tonight. I turned off smart lock on the link you gave me. And I think that has stopped encryption. I can't see a lock on my passwords anymore. But when I go to sync my stuff passwords are still greyed out and can't select them. So I guess I haven't solved the problem. I have another question. Since resetting my phone factory data reset. I have blue and white text on my keyboard. How do I make it all white. Thank you for your help. How do I give you points for helping me?

As to your last question, I haven't the least idea but it's kind of you to ask. If we both 'like' our posts and keep this thread going, maybe we'll attract somebody who knows lots more than I do. Sorry I took so long getting back to you. I've been sick for a week and have spent as much time as I reasonably could in bed.

You do come up with some original problems! I've never heard of this two-color text syndrome! Please tell me what kind of keyboard you're using. If it's a Samsung stock keyboard, if I were you, I'd go over to Samsung Support and open a 'live chat.' You never have to wait long before somebody comes on to talk to you. If you complain in two-color text, they'll know you have either a weird problem, or a sense of humor.:) http://www.samsung.com/us/support/
In the meantime, I'll research this and hope I come up with something.

P.S. If you haven't solved your first problem, are you sure you followed all the instructions just like they showed you? It's Google; it's not supposed to make sense, necessarily, but it's a map you have to follow exactly if you want to fix your problem with them. You might try asking Samsung while you're there if they've ever heard of this one, though it's not really their purview. Since it's hard to do much with Android apps without Google, I'll bet they get a fair amount of questions where it's hard to tell if you have a system or a Google problem.
