Friendly reminder to all, you should be able to type any forum or channel name in the global blue search bar up top, it should autocomplete in a dropdown. You can click that to navigate to that section.
This fails for forums like The Lounge, linking to http://androidforums.com/s/

I desperately miss this little guy (
lastpost.gif
) from the vBulletin days
It was a quick link that would to take you to a threads newest/last post.

It went away with the switch to Xenforo a few years back. There was a similar implementation, where you would click on the italic text of the user/date/time of the "latest post". I found that it never worked consistently enough for me. It would sometimes work on the Desktop site but not all the time, and on my mobile device the "latest post" part of the thread was either not present or did not link - I believe this was left off the "mobile theme" entirely for spacing and cleanliness?

Can it be made so that clicking the small message icon (
2iu44mq.jpg
) takes you to the threads newest post?

There should be a little blue dot to the left of the thread titles, that take you to the latest unread post. Does that help?

Oh wow, that is great! I totally would not have noticed that unless it was pointed out to me by you (or Unforgiven earlier in the thread).
My only hang up is that the dot is only there when you are logged in, and that is how, by account, it keeps track of what your last unread post would be? I'd say about 85% of the time I browse not logged in and only about 15% of the time I'm ever logged in, just to make a new post.

Speaking of which, I think I've noticed that my log in is dropped quickly after navigating only a few pages away from where I logged in last. I've seen this definitely on my Mobile (which drops tasks and browser redraws frequently - my problem not yours) and possibly just now on my desktop computer.
I don't really want you to try to make my log in persist for a longer amount of time (security concern) I only bring this up to say that if my log in is dropped quickly, and I keep browsing threads not logged in, my unread messages tracker will be inaccurate over time.

This happening for anyone else? It's not for me..

Is the "keep logged in" checkbox checked? Let me know!

Yes that's happening also for me.
They said they don't want to make the login persist for security reasons.

21. 50 trending topics? How about just letting me toggle the Colum off.

22. Home page ... forums and channels list ... now sorted ... great. With 33 boxes they cover the screen. Simple list of links needed?

23. The three bars next to the title toggle the left panel on and off. When off in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari the column collapses. In Opera the column is just made a blank. This panel could simply go away and the three bars could bring up a dropdown with the links in it.

24. Print Screen prints the center column only. With 33 favorites a print screen starts with a page and a half of boxes. When printed to a PDF two of them throw an error and one of them prints 4 pages of the favorites section (attached). Print screen and screen capture need to work and don't.

21. 50 trending topics? Why? Who cares? 50? How about just letting me toggle the Colum off and you can then play with it to your hearts content. Remove right column option needed.
Agree, or make it collapsable. Also, on a thread with only a single post it is a little messy having a mile of white space between the bottom of the post and the bottom menu.

22. Home page ... forums list ... now sorted ... that's a start. It needs to be a simple list of links. I looked at it in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera. In Internet Explorer the long names do not wrap in the silly boxes. In Firefox and Opera they do wrap. With 33 boxes they cover the screen. Simple list of links needed.

23. The three bars next to the title toggle the left panel on and off. When off in Internet Explorer the column collapses. In Opera and Firefox the column is just made a blank. This panel should simply go away and the three bars would bring up a dropdown with the options in it.

24. Print Screen does In all three browsers prints the center column only. With 33 favorites a print screen starts with a page and a half of boxes. When printed to a PDF two of them throw an error and one of them prints 4 pages of the favorites section (attached). Print screen ands screen capture need to work and don't.

21. This is a new feature we just built and are adjusting as we go. 50 does feel a little extreme to me, I do believe we are going to be able to easily adjust it to whatever number, soon.

22. I will let them know about the wrapping issue. However, those silly boxes are here to stay. We have over 10k different members a month that log in currently, and 100 total have more than 5 favorites. Buttons like this are the modern aesthetic, great for mobile, and we have no plans to change them.

Now, some people, like yourself, have many favorites. There are about 20 people with more than you. I'm not sure how active they are. For you, and them, I am including a list vs links option in my proposal for a favorites section improvement, because I do see how for some it would be preferred, esp if styled nicely.

23. I'm using Chrome FF and IE and don't see a glaring difference in how they react. Haven't tried Opera. Will add to list, thanks!

24. Print Screen is probably not a huge prio for us but I will add to the list. Thanks!

Thom, might I suggest you take the edge off your tone a little bit. I appreciate your feedback, and have even spoken positively of your concise, encompassing and numbered formatting - but please realize not everyone is going to be super pleased about how we do ANYTHING. We're having to design for the masses, and experiment to find what works and what doesn't. If you don't like something, cool, tell us. That's what we want, but sometimes your tone can make people want to glaze over your posts.

Agree with that, good point.

Sorry to double up, and this is a legacy nit that goes back to the initial XF migration, but internal forum links don't render to the thread title or forum / channel name.

Example:
http://androidforums.com/forums/app-game-announcements.39/
used to show as:
App & Game Announcements
by automatically parsing the pasted forum url to
App & Game Announcements

Since you have Internet Explorer ... add Site Updates & Announcements as a favorite. You will see in this area that that name does not wrap. This seems to be an IE issue only.

I for one do not need this area. An option to hide it might be helpful. The reason for being on that page at all is to view the recent posts list. This is a temporary reason because the "channel favorite" problem prevents me from doing it on the favorites list and that list does not identify the device channel where the post was made. This list on the home page does. When "channel favorite" is working I will really have no reason to go to the main page.

I think the main page should be directed to new visitors to get them signed up and help them into the community. I would only visit it to show the site to new visitors while I am logged on to my account.

23. I'm using Chrome FF and IE and don't see a glaring difference in how they react. Haven't tried Opera. Will add to list, thanks!

I can't use Chrome on my Windows 7 machine. I installed it once and was forced to do a system restore to recover. Internet Explorer, Safari, Filrefox all collapse the column. Opera makes the column blank and does not collapse it.

24. Print Screen is probably not a huge prio for us but I will add to the list. Thanks!

Understandable. The only reason I was trying to use it was to get the screenshot you requested that I post. How would you suggest I get the screenshot you requested?

25. Right Column Removal

Using Internet Explorer with today's Android Forums layout ...

The magnification is adjusted so the icons are present in the right side of title area (previously reported).

If I tap the three bars in the title the left column disappears (previously reported).

If I reduce the window width by 1/2" by moving the left edge of the window 1/2" to the right the right column disappears. The "list of 50" is now at the bottom of the center column.
This also works for Firefox but the window has to be reduced by about 2".

One topic (!dea) is taking up trending spots 35, 36, 37, & 38 in the screenshot? Maybe it was fixed or a momentary glitch as I see it is only ranked #35 now.

Nah I saw your post and merged them all into one, then replied ;)

Well, the left column is supposed to dissappear when you click the 3 bars. The menu jumping to the bottom is responsive design doing its thing. It's not an ideal layout, like that we would probably want to double up the columns, or remove the trending altogether when at the bottom. These are design tweaks that would be made after we finalize our thoughts on if we want this, etc..

What That post was doing was capturing how you can currently control the presentation under Internet Explorer ...

You CAN display the buttons in the title.
You CAN remove the left column.
You CAN move the right column to the bottom.
You CAN print the center column to a printer but not to a PDF using Ctrl-P. It will only be the center column. If the right column is repositioned to the bottom of the center column it will not be included.

I can't click the information link in the dropdown on a profile page.
View attachment 116756
When I click Information it adds /#info to the end of the URL but doesn't update the page, clicking Refresh will then show the Information tab.

the left column is supposed to dissappear when you click the 3 bars.
That still doesn't stick for me, clicking to a new page restores left column every time. I remember you saying that was fixed a few pages back, but just tested and it reappears. EDIT: as below was added to the to do list.

If you really want to capture the center column in Internet Explorer ...
Ctrl-P to a physical printer.
Scan the pages in to a PDF file.
Send the PDF file.

The "screen shot" @Phases requested earlier is attached.
