Default ZTE Racer II Kernel Source Code

To all ZTE Racer II users. I need your help.
ZTE still not released Kernel Source code for Racer II (Froyo).
It is vital for making custom ROMs.
I think that we must put some pressure to ZTE, as not providing kernel source is direct violation of GPL.
Please send an email to mobile@zte.com.cn, asking them for kernel source.
I sent a couple of emails, but every time I get same reply:
"We are sorry that Kernel Source Code is not available to provide and hope you can understand."

I hope more emails will break "automatic response system", and we will get a meaningful response.

Can you try to send them copy of GNU General Public License version 2, and to explain that they violate the license of the kernel?

Type in google ZTE RacerII and find the official ZTE webpage about the product, and go in the support section and you'll find an update software to install which will flash your phone. Byu doing that you're changing the modelabs from the 0.1 version to the 0.2 one

Default Kernel source code

Hello again...

I've tried sending a request for the ZTE racer II kernel source code, but i got an answer stating that zte wasn't able to give it to me... WTF! I also tried to modify a Cyanogenmod with android 2.3 on it. I used the one one from ZTE skate, and flashed it with clockworkmod, but the phone wont boot, and reboot after displaying the Brand screen (ZTE written in blue on a white screen). How could i manage to make it work? And is it possible to make a kernel dump or anything like this? Using SDK maybe?
For the update it is useless, doesn't change anything, and also a bug appeared with the FM radio apk. I also learned that there existed zte racer II in turkey that runned android 2.3, but were not like our owns... Might be a good idea to investigate in that direction...

Exclamation What i send to ZTE

I took the initiative of sending another mail, but to the french branch of ZTE. Here's what I wrote (in french obviously but u can use google translate ):

"Je vous contacte pour vous poser deux questions. Je vous les avait déjà posées mais vous ne m'aviez pas adressé une réponse satisfaisante...
-1) J'aimerai savoir si le code source du noyau du terminal ZTE Racer II était disponible. J'avais déjà adressé cette demande et on m'avait répondu non. J'ai été étonné sachant que ce noyau est basé sur linux qui est open source, et donc le code de ce noyau l'est aussi. Je ne devrai normalement pas rencontrer de problème pour son obtention. Alors pourquoi me l'a-t-on refusé?

Hope I'll get a concrete answer... Need to wait 72 hours minimum for my request to be taken in account by the support team. 'll come back and tell you what they answered me.

See y'all, Dédé 04.

Confused

Ok, i'm wondering if there's any way of dumping th kernel and find its source code from that. I'll have look on google. How the kernel source code helps building a custom rom, and how to build a custom rom?

Ok got some news. No answers from ZTE, the update is not working, but you can apparently get the kernel source code through unpacking the boot.img (which is what i'm actually trying to do), and there's the ramdisk configuration as well in that file. For instance i'm trying to unpack this boot img, but yet can't manage it. I'll come back as soon as possible with any news

You could root your your phone and make a clockwormod backup and put it here...because we have android 2.2 and your t11 have android 2.3

Oh my god! I've been desperatly waiting for that moment for months!! Thank ya bro'. But the problem is: What needs to be done next? And that's what Im going to look for. Maybe have a look at Android SDK tutorials and all that, ask modaco, and look up on internet, but it is going to be tough for a noob like me who can barely script html5 Mouwahaha!
If I find something, it'll end up here of course!
Have a good day all!

Dear Valued ZTE Customer Thanks
for contacting us & really sorry for
the late reply. To deal with your
issue, it would be beneficial if
some details are available: * your
device model like MF626 & its
IMEI/ESN/MSN number, which are
usually available under the removal
of the battery/at the back of the
device; * the place where you
bought this device (country/city) &
the purchase date; * your service
provider ( network operator); *
your location...
