Notsure root help!

Hey y'all

I got my Razr Maxx a few weeks ago and have been doing some research and think I want to root it, but I need some help! Having never used a PC or Linux computer, I dont really understand my phone's OS, so I have been having some trouble understanding other instructions how to root- most of the Mac/Linux roots are really confusing and accompanied with Linux screen shots. If someone could really dumb down the process (or link me to one that explains it for Mac) for me that would be great!

Also I am wondering about the steps berofe and after...

Is there anything I need to do/ install before I root it? Apps?

I have a mac and I updated my phone to 2.3.6- is there s root available for that? Where?

What do I install after I root it? (Titanium Backup? which backup is best?)

Any help is appreciated!

You're gonna want to stick to the Droid Razr root forum. Everything that works on the Razr works on the Maxx.

Check out this thread:

In particular the link on there to here:

Security Research by Dan Rosenberg

That second link will give you all you require to root. If you need help, dont hesitate to ask questions on the Razr root forum.

Definitely get Titanium Backup! Will let you "freeze" apps you dont want running in the background (like Blockbuster). Freezing them is better than deleting them because if that app affects something you didnt expect, you can just unfreeze it. You cant "undelete" something. I've already found this helpful.

If you plan to flash a ROM (a different operating system), then you'll want to get either SafeStrap or BootStrap. They help you recover in case things go wrong. The differences between the two are described in that root forum.

Good luck! Rooting the Razr is insanely easy!
