Default Rogers Android offering post Google Motorola takeover

While from the news reports it appears as though Google will run Motorola as a separate entity and encourage ther manufacturers to make cool devices, I can't help but thinking the Motorola devices might have a but of an edge..

But.... the Rogers current Motorola android offering is vertually non-existant, whereas Bell at least has a couple of nice Motorola phones.

What's everyone's thoughts on how the takeover will affect the Canadian android offering and Rogers vs Bell? Will Bell continue to get better phones first or would Rogers be able to launch new Motorola phones timely? Does Bell have a contract with Motorola to offer new phones through them first?

I'm thinking this is the case. Rogers has some kind of agreement with Sony Ericsson as all of the SE phones are on Rogers. Telus has some kind of agreement with HTC since a lot of their phones are HTC ones.

It seems like Rogers Android offering is still leaving a lot to be desired, even with the other manufactures. My magic phone has lost it's luster for me as I'm finding it so slow and low on memory. I called Rogers to find out about an upgrade under their early upgrade policy and they want to charge me like $180 plus $35 registration fee and $50 admin fee the cost of a new phone.

I have no interest in the 3d phones on their website...they seem gimmicky to me. What I want is something with a faster processor and more memory. Try playing Angrybirds on a magic and it's no fun!

Saw this new phone coming that looks good (link below)...wondering what they will be charging for it on contract though. I tried calling for details but sales rep I spoke to didn’t have info yet. But some people on the Mobile Syrup forum that Rogers will be charging a lot more for the data on the plan for new LTE network. Hopefully we will see some good devices coming out in the next few months that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

Only one I like on their website now is the Samsung Galaxy S Infuse but it is a really huge sized phone....

Ignore the 3D on the EVO3D and you'll find that it's one of the best phone out on the market today. I have a few friends (on here) that have the EVO3D and they've said there are very little issues with their phones and that they are really fast. From what I've read, I would rank the EVO3D second to the SGS2 in term of raw power/performance. The EVO3D IS the best phone from HTC atm. So food for thought.

Only thing I don't like about the Infuse is that it's a single core. Double cores are the standard, so I feel like you're not upgrading yourself if it's a single core at all.

When I talked to Retention they said that for my early upgrade, I can pick any phone other than the iPhone and get $50 of the contract price. You might want to call and ask. And don't forget to try to renegotiate your contract if you can, lol.

Thanks. I'll try with Retentions once I decide on a phone!

You get more leeway with Retention than CS, lol. And they usually give those extra little to get you to stay?

What kind of data plan do you have? Rogers has its $30 for 6GB deal now if you don't have it already. I got it last year and learnt that my friend negotiate hers and got the same 6GB for $20. I wasn't too please.

My current plan is actually already a retentions plan but I do not have 6gb of data, only 1 gb. If I leave my phone always connected each month, I get close to the 1 gb. Lately, I've been putting wifi only on to save my data for tethering. Between my wife's blackberry and my phone, we pay about $100/month. I would like more data...main thing is a new phone thogh as my magic phone is driving me crazy!
