Default Paid apps are finally in Canada!

So it looks like the paid apps are finally available in Canada. I can't believe this has finally happened!
At this moment you wouldn't see them by browsing categories but a search returns now paid apps as well free ones.

I finally have access to all the apps I bought while my phone was rooted. This is definitely a relief.

Now, to get a rootable phone, and Wi-Fi tethering...

Every time I try to purchase an app, I am directed to a screen that requires my Google account information. I log in using either my standard Gmail account OR my Google Apps account, and in both cases after about 5 minutes an error message is shown indicating that my phone was unable to establish a reliable connection to Google servers.

Any ideas?
