Default What computer specs are required for development?

My computer is crap. I'm looking to replace it. I also want to learn to develop my own ROMs and whatnot. What specifications should I look for in my new computer or laptop that would allow this?

At least an I5 or I7 Intel CPU, with as much RAM as you can fit.

I use a 2.53ghz dual core I5 with turbo boost upto 3.2ghz. It only has 2GB physical RAM so I have had to supplement with a large swap file.

It runs quite well. It's much faster than my old machine, however that was an old 2ghz core 2 duo again only with 2GB RAM.

Ram is the biggest obstical.

Yep....CPU doesn't create much problems(sometimes it does )but good amount of RAM is needed indeed
