Default Make a screen record script

Hi I'm new so I hope this is the right place for this.
So I flashed cm11 (android4.4) on my S2 Hercules. And I was browsing the /system/bin directory and noticed a "command" (sorry if that's the wrong term) named "screenrecord". So I opened terminal emulator and executed it just to test it out and after i pressed ctrl+c to stop recording, lo and behold it made a mp4 file in the directory I specified. The only hitch is it only seems to work if I have terminal emulator in focus. If I switch to my home screen after starting the command it creates a 3kb file that can't be played. So I tried to make a script file (without any previous knowledge about Linux scripting mind you) to start the command, and it works. but I have no idea how to tell it to stop recording, the only way I could think of was to delete the file while it was being recorded.
BTW to create the script file I made a .sh file with cyanogenmods file explorer, and inside I put "screen record /storage/sdcard0/record.mp4"

Maybe I shouldn't have attempted this being a newb and all but my curiosity got the best of me

A lot of the other kitkat roms have screen recorder built in. Not sure about CM but on these rom, you go to the setting to add/remove things to the lil menu that pops up when you hold in Power then add screen record to the menu. See if cm has it (some roms call that menu "power menu" others call it "global menu")

If not, GravityBox module for Xposed Framework has screen record.

For help with scripts I'd ask in the developer forum. This one is pretty quiet.

Good luck mate
