Default Broken MMS

I looked around for an MMS apk from 2.3.5 because that MMS.apk has the option of inverting the colors. Coming from CM7 on an Optimus M, I'd gotten pretty used to it. Since doing so, I cannot send or receive MMS at all, and I've tried the fix for people on 2.3.6.

I'm on 2.3.4.

Thing is, and I've done this before. You have to still have to keep the default messaging apk. I replaced mine with an ICS Messaging apk and man problems happened.

So if you can deal with receiving two notifications every time you get a text, you're in luck. Personally I don't know how to replace stock messaging with zero error.

Thing is, I got everything I want, and I don't get double messages. I've only lost the ability to deal with MMS. I'm thinking to dabble with the return to stock thing, but I'm not sure. I tried putting back the odex and original mms apk but it cannot be installed, apparently.

I fully understand that, as I can clearly read, But I was simply asking how Handcent hid the message notifications as you could do that to hide the stock message apk and just use the custom installed one. Done making hasty assumptions there?
