You can use the free app "Rescan SD Card" from the market to mount and unmount SD card to update the stuff you added, without having to plug the chord into the computer.

each time i plug the usb in or out it erases anything i put in the phone. when i created the music folder on the sd card as soon as i unplugged my phone from the computer, i took a look at 'my files' and its gone, nothing is there.
i dont have the stock music player. i noticed this when i first received the phone so i did a factory reset and i still don't have the app. so thats why downloaded winamp. and tried syncing my music from there to no avail.
