I've only ever seen the Pre-Android 'Net plan work if you had the plan prior to getting an Android (and using your existing SIM card)

I haven't heard of it working the other-way-around.

It should work automatically, I would imagine. I'm running T-zones and it works fine except for the no visual voicemail- which I'm okay with. YOu can call t-mobile, tell them you have some old phone like a motorola Razr and ask them to add it for you...you can even try to get the t-zones 5.99 plan.

just change your APN to wap.voicestream.com and set the proxy to 216.155.165.50:8080

This works if you have a wap only plan (I have the super old Unlimited T-Zone plans and it works just fine.

Doesn't work t-mobile can tell what phone you have and what plan works with it by either IMEI or Model number.

Wrong, YOU CAN use the $10 unlimited data on the behold. It is probably one of the few if not ONLY android tmobile branded phone that can.

you will just need to change the apn.

you try this on the mytouch 3g/slide it still wont work due to imei blacklist

Nope you can't this one only allows Android Data Plan and the pay $2 per mb plan.

either way paying only for internet makes no sense to me. Especially if there are proxies where you can do it for free.

Did you buy this phone directly from T-mo? If so, go to your online account and change it, take your sim card out and put it in a new phone, call them and get them to add the plan. They can scan for the IMEI if they like and it won't show up. Once it's added, just switch your sim card out. I heard that works. Other than that, I'm running BHII on t-zones. It's one of only 2 phones currently that can do this (which is a huge reason I'm keeping it). The other is the Nexus 1.

you can use t-zones or the $10, like i said im on it now! And i JUST got my behold 2 yesterday.

Would you like us to show you video? actually forget that idea, it would reveal too much personal info, so you can take the information as you like, but it does work, and if it doesnt for you, you are definitely paying too much.

I HAVE a mytouch3g slide also, and the reason im selling it is because you cant use the $10 data plan, regarless if changing it and correct settings.

I don't have the Android plan. I have the same internet plan I've had since 2005. Just put the old SIM card in and it works with no changes.

tritran, yes you are correct.

it may work right off the bat, so test it first. if it goes to the page asking you that you need to upgrade the data plan, then change the APN.

Wrong. I don't have a data plan and have full/unlimited internet access on 3G.

It may not work on new plans or new subscribers, I have an old plan that I have had for like 6-8 years and have never changed it, and this method has worked fine on multiple phones, including my Behold 2.

One caveat, the built in browser may not work to access the internet, you may need to use Opera, this is what I do when on 3G. Otherwise you can use anything on WiFi of course.

I think there may also be a couple of other blocked sites/apps, but I don't recall every running into them.

Don't draw attention to yourself by calling CS or abusing it by using it a lot or downloading tons of MB etc..

inaz4sun..

i just signed up for tmobile 3 days ago. and it still works. $10 unlimited data with 3g for behold.

if this plan worked on the mytouch 3g slide i wouldve kept mine.

does anyone know if it will work on the cliq or better yet the cliq xt?

hey, 3G or EDGE. I checked the connect speed and it was 20kb/s for download and 10kb/s for upload.

That answer is no. I've researched it before getting the BH2. It usually works for a day or two and then conks out. It looks like as long as T-mo doesn't give 2 craps about the phone, then you're good to go Hey, what do you know...

you and i seemed to be the same, and the only reason we got this phone.

to run a semi-new phone that runs droid and only pay a maximum of $10 data for unlimited with 3g. there are people out there who use this with $5.99 tzones!!! now that is hard to beat.

such a shame.

there is always the nexus one that has confirmed to work, and since it supports tmobile 3g should be the "best" option.

then i hear it works with unbranded gsm phones, like from att, etc. but no tmo 3g of course.

I can do even one better. I have the super old $4.99 unlimited T-zones and have it working fine over 3G, unlimited. My entire plan with minutes and data is $24.99. Of course you can't get those plans any more, mine is like 6 or so years old already. With Google Voice I can also make unlimited local/long distance calls. I laugh at my iPhone buddies who have like $90 a month and have to stand on top of buildings to get signals on their crap ATT network and pay for Apps.

Guys

you are all silly!

Unless you have bought your behold II from a friend or paid for it in full, there is no way for you to get the 10 dollar a month internet.

In other words, if you got the phone new from tmobile for like 70 bux, its going to have a $30/month unlimited android internet attached to it for 2 years.

The other option is that you can opt out of the internet, and pay them 10/month for them NOT to put unlimited internet on your plan.

I found it dumb to pay tmobile to NOT have a service.

Its like a paying a hooker to not have an encounter lol (i know, bad reference)

also, but let me tell you this, 10/month internet is hella slow

wrong...soo..soo..wrong.

you know what i did? i walked in to tmobile, told them my phone fell in to the drink and that i need to change my plan abit. that im using an old razr and need to switch to just talk+text. they'll go ''okay!"

get home, call the tmobile customer service # on a diff phone than your behold 2, tell them the same story, and ask for the 10 a month internet
dont let ANY tmobile person tell you that you are 'stuck' with the internet. lol.

i've had the regular talk+text+web and now im on the 10 a month internet. the speeds to me are the SAME. its data over 3g/edge connecting to the internet.

done.

no one listen to rleal2010,

see how he is the only one who claims that, yet several have counter arguments.

the $10 is 3g and is fast.

im sure any one of us can do a video showing proof, but it would reveal too much personal account info im sure.

so you can either believe 1 guy, or go with the 4+ guys who have no problems.

sounds like he just got ripped off by T-mobile because he didn't know the right steps to get $10

case closed..

DONE!

Hi all,

Would someone please show us how to change the apn? Settings -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names -> T-MOBILE US 310 260 which brings us to Edit access point screen. What I have now is:

APN
epc.tmobile.comapndroid

MMS port
<Not set>

MCC

What should be changed? Or do we have to set up a new Access Point? Thanks in advance for guidance and advice.

As others have mentioned, this is not correct. I "bought" my BH2 for free + the upgrade fee + shipping right off T-mobile's website. It allowed me to leave my plan as-is, and I do not pay $30/mo or anything else for a data plan. Of course the website won't let me do squat without demanding that I add that $30 plan, so the website is marginally useful right now. For example, to add my wife's $10/mo unlimited data plan to her Nokia Nuron, I had to call. The CSRs have no trouble doing these things. Just checked my bill; still no data plan (or fee) on my BH2.

@TheKrell

Do you use the wifi? I hardly ever leave the house, so I don't mind not having a data plan. I can still access the webpages I like to use while sitting on the sofa. Of course, many places have free wifi access now, which is nice. I can sit outside of Dunkin Donuts, sip my coffee and browse the web. The only reason I would want a data plan, really, is to be able to use Weather Toggle widget, because it just looks so awesome, but whatever. . .you can't have it all.

Of course I use the wifi! Google Maps of course doesn't work when I drive out of range of wifi. So I use MapDroid instead.

Hint - there is no requirement that you be honest about which phone you have on the website. I, for example, officially have a Motorola Zine as far as the website is concerned.

Still no go. I tried wap.voicestream.com with the proxy and internet2.voicestream.com. The first method does not send me to the web2go page when I get on the internet. It just says web page unavailable, regardless which web site I try. The second method always redirect me to the web2go page.

I noticed also that the apn setting changes by tagging to the end apndroid. E.g. I put wap.voicestream.com, it automatically put wap.voicestream.comapndroid. The apn type always switches back to *apndroid, regardless if I changed it to internet+mms, mms only, or internet only.

Any help is appreciated. I want to make sure that my wife's $10 data plan works on the Behold II before I try to get myself a similar plan.

TIA, Cool

Coolshades

You have a program called APN Droid installed on your phone. It attempts to turn off 3G by appending apndroid to the end of the original APN. This does not turn off 3G. However, it does mess up your 3G connection. I would uninstall that program.

When I change my phone to something else on the website, it always change back to BH2 the next time I logged back to the website. Does this happen to you?

It doesn't for me - I can change the phone to whatever I want. As long as the phone is changed for the session, though, you should have access to the services for that phone even if it does revert back to the BH2 on the next login.

nhung, it worked. Thanks so much. I didn't know how apndroid works therefore not realized it is apndroid that appended apndroid to the end of the apn. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN, apndroid!!! lol. If I could get the $10 (better if it's $5.99) data plan added, it would be perfect.

Cool

I dont have a data plan, can I call Tmob and just ask for the $10 data plan? Is this plan for unlimited data use per month?

It is extremely unlikely that tmo will give you the $10 data plan if they know you have an android phone. You might have to play CS roulette to find an agent that will give it to you, most will tell you it is not possible.

Best bet is to log into your my.t-mobile.com account, pick a phone as your phone of record that has the $10 service available, I use the Zine, and add the $10 plan that way. First month is free.

And yes, the $10 plan is for unlimited data use.

YOU CANNOT, just call tmobile and ask for this plan.

You need to put your sim card in another phone that is phone first, such as the nuron, highlight, or many other older phones, that isnt labeled as a SMART PHONE.

then you can call, BUT if you want it faster, do it above, just go to tmobile website and change your phone to the nuron or highlight, and you should be able to add the $10 data
