Default Cincinnati Bell releasing the Behold II ....

Without Touchwiz?!?!?!

This actually might not be a bad idea. Spec wise the Behold II is of average grade but we all know it performs much better without the constraints of touchwiz.

Woah woah, they took off Touchwiz!

<cue chorus of angels!>

I'll have to get in contact with them or a new user and get the ROM dump straight away!

Default 1.6 ...of course

But yeah...definitely, if some kind soul were to grab one for a little while and dump the ROM....there would be Thousands of seriously grateful people around here.

That is what I was thinking at first. But I think the hang up is the amoled drivers not the touchwiz drivers. This behold II won't see 2.x either anyway.

Living in Cincinnati I will now have to see this phone being pumped down my throat by Nick Lachey for the next four months I guess.

Props to Cincinnati Bell! The phone isn't all that bad spec-wise, so it's pretty cool that they're doing it without TouchWiz. We all have our little arguments about these phones, but this is great for the expansion of Android!

It's Bell....MA BELL.......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

jk
it's not important this phone should die a flaming poo of a death and working on it with Me Bell wouldn't of saved it. You made the right choice.

Ok it kinda is and kinda isn't Ma Bell but still I think everyone knows what AT&T's name was before it was hacked to death by the government (even though it has bought up and merged all it's subsidiarity it produced during the split and is now one mega company again)

It looks like Samsung's call log, messaging, and calendar apps are still there unless they just reused the icons. Not too bad.

Question is are those camera and camcorder apps Samsung's or something else?

I really can't wait to get my hands on a dump of this!

From all the pix on the Support Tutorial page it look like Twiz as far as the homescreen and settings applets are gone. The camera, messaging, contacts, etc are still there.

Though with the looser integration even these could probably be removed and replaced with alternatives or stock Android.

They would have had to remove the dependence of the dialer on Visual Voicemail for instance.

That's using standard modem drivers, though. Can T-Mo's do this right now? I never tried.

I there is indeed something different it "might" mean that Bell added kernel support for tethering.

edit: nvm - it works now. I put in "epc.tmobile.com" instead of Bell's access point. If I didn't work in a basement bunker I would have a signal now.

T-mobile Phone have had this already. You can Actually get Tethering working in the all my Rom's, you just need the .bin for the module that re-enables it from 1.5, in the 1.6 build they removed the support for it.

*edit*
never-mind, I assumed they removed the support for it, but this does fix other tether issue though.

I'm curious to wonder if Cincinatti Bell would be able to get the source drivers from Samsung, and if we can somehow get it from them lol

I wonder if this phone ships root or not. It would be funny if it did. (They probably didn't even remove all references to BH_Man in it).

Very interesting development on the Behold II front...

If they are making their customizations to the ROM (or using BH_MAN's), I suspect, they must have some type of dev support from Samsung, whether it be source code to the drivers or something else...

If it is indeed stock Android, and they have the source to the drivers, this might help us get 2.2 on the Behold.
