Default Text Shortcut

hey!

I am new to this phone and coming from g1...on my g1 i was able to have a shortcut on the home screen to text a specific contact, so with one touch, i was able to open our text convo...is there any way for me to do that on this phone?

I believe so, pess down on homescreen to get shortcuts, select contacts!

i did that...it saves the contact but not direct text
