Okay, all in all, is everyone happy with the update? I'm still running the Galaxy ROM and haven't ODIN'd back to stock to see if i get the update. I'd really like some better battery performance though. It's such a hassle having to reload all your apps & stuff! If I do all that, I was gonna load up one of the BH_MAN ROM's. How are people liking them? Any suggestions? I was thinking on the "Behold Stock No TouchWiz ROM" to get the camera back. Any advice in the whole ODIN back, receive update, load up new ROM process that anyone would like to pass on?
@xblue95 - get Astro file manager, you can back up all your apps using it. Makes reloading more efficient. it will not back up configuration (eg usernames and passwords for Twidroid), but it at least all the apps are reloaded. WRT installing an alternate ROM, I don't know that ANY work post bug fix - HOWEVER BH_MAN is looking to get a system dump so he can modify the ROM's to work again.
See directions below:
Anyway, the important point is that if you ODIN back and get the update you need to be prepared to live with it for awhile until the ROM's can be updated.
"Can Somebody With a Default Update Do this For me?
adb pull /system C:\BH2 ( C:\BH2 = Your File Folder ) then upload the file's and Post them here?
Since I'm still waiting on the Update myself, I've had a brief chat with my Source at Samsung & he confirmed there isn't nothing life chaning in the kernel regarding problems. All fixes was addressed mainly to the OS it's self.
The Faster I can get the System Dump of the Update, the Faster I roll out updates to the system.img for everyone..
I've asked before, & sorry to ask again... Just eager to get the Dump is all.
Thanks,
BH_MAN "

Well first it's important to note that a lot of people (such as myself) are *still* waiting for the update to come through... So it might not be as easy as flashing back and updating and then moving on to a new rom. There's a fair possibility you could be on the stock rom for several weeks until it goes through to your phone.
But as far as advice to make the transition easier, I've heard a lot of people suggest calling tmobile tech support and make certain they have your IMEI number. In addition I have heard people speculate that you need to be using the default touch wiz home screen and not a home screen replacement such as GDE or open home for this update to go through.
Of course I have done both of these things and have yet to receive an update so who knows this process just might be a bit more of the luck of the draw.
...Anyway if you decide to flash back I hope you have better luck than I've had.

Thanks kkarlin & SoulCreator for your input. I can't believe I missed that little feature in Astro! I was wondering if Astro file manager's app backup also saves the "Market Link" so that you receive update notifications in "My Downloads".
Something about our ROOT it didn't like. And I never got around to trying BH_MAN's root problem fix. That's about the same time as all the bug fix update rumors started. So I've been holding out.

Initially following the update, I had the super drain on my battery. But with the Battery Retraining tip, that problem no longer exists. My battery now holds its charge for most of the day, even if I get on a long call in excess of an hour - I generally lose only a bar. Whereas before, I did nothing and the battery simply (and quickly) drained itself.
Note: My phone appears to run faster. And the screen may even be more sensitive. It is certainly more responsive (i.e. less lag).
Now I do have occasional anomalies such as apps opening that I have not opened, apps switching between one another, multiple notification alerts, alerts that will not remove for long periods (or, unless I clear the notification bar - where previously I only had to read the notification for it to clear).
Nothing earth shattering, just slightly annoying... I am getting a new phone today however (which was ordered before) and I will decide which one to keep. I am of the opinion though that what we have is as good as it gets without a root. And even a "new" phone won't have differing issues, because most issues were OS related.
The only thing that gives me pause on getting a new phone is: If it doesn't have the update already, who knows when I might receive it? And then there is the pain of having to re-install everything, which I just did due to a wipe. Decisions, decisions...
Overall, I still love my phone and I will keep it updated one way or another -
Now, if I could just solve the "I can't see this sucker in daylight" issue, that would be very cool...But, that isn't going to happen - So, I hold it down inside my purse when out of doors so that I can *try* to see what I am doing, LOL.

I have a tip for that. In the LCD Brightness settings, there is the Automatic option. Turn it on. What will happen is when out in bright settings, it takes half a second, but it will bump up to max brightness. Now of course it wont show up as if you were indoors, but its enough to at least see some of what you are doing. Give it a try and see how you like it.

Thanks Yati!
I have set it and will let you know how it works out for me!
Latest discovery. My phone lost Bluetooth capability with my headset. I am using the Jawbone II, which I love. I have tried to re-pair the two but my SB2 can no longer "see" my headset. Grrrrr.
Anybody have any solutions? I did a factory reset on the Bluetooth already and it didn't help.
ok i got my replacement behold 2...good thing i got a new one as replacement (or at least it looks new).... still no update...how do i exactly check what version i'm running on?

Do you have an app called "Where's Waldo?" yes = update.
Maybe a stupid couple of questions, but I'm curious.
1.) Has anyone that previously had a custom ROM installed, then went back to stock Behold 2 TouchWiz gotten the update?
2.) Anyone who only rooted their phone, but didn't do custom ROMs, receive the update?
I picked up the behold 2 for my GF on valentines day and she has yet to get the update. Her phone keeps making the notification noise that is supposable the SD mount issue. I heard the update is supposed to fix that right?
Anyone have that update yet, or know what order it is coming in.
Have plenty of people recieved their update? I still have not, i think its about 75 pecent have not received them..Ive tried anything and everything and still no update..any further suggestion?
Still haven't gotten my update, but I have a voice ticket into TMO. This means that they have to call me back with a resolution to the problem within 72 hours (by noon tomorrow).
We'll see. In other news, that HTC Desire is looking nice.
@chad
how do you get a voice ticket? Every rep i talk to tells me something different..and as the last resort they always tell me to give me a new phone as a replacement but i dont want that..my phone was bought in Feb, i just want the damn update lol

I also was able to get a voice ticket (I did call them a trillion times about this and other problems with the Behold 2)... I should get a call by Thursday night... as this is my 2nd 72hour ticket!
@BreatheElectro you are a *genius*!!! - As I posted earlier, after the update, my battery was draining like a sieve even though neither GPS nor Wifi were on. The task killer didn't help it. I logged onto this forum and saw your above advice to another poster and followed your advice.
My battery has been fully charged all day and hasn't moved an INCH!!! Whereas before, whether I was talking or doing nothing at all to the phone, it would sit there draining. I had to recharge a couple of times during the day. Now, my battery is holding its charge and not "punking out" LOL
Your post should be made a part of the sticky advice tip section
Many thanks
You're very welcome!!! Glad that worked out!

Trouble is bro, nobody asked you - and someone above was asking, so I responded to that. So if your comment was directed at me, I suggest you apologize, and in the future restrict your comments to the subject of the forum and not to personal attacks on others. Thanks.

Lost Bluetooth update: If anyone experiences the loss of bluetooth with your headset after the update, If you have tried re-pairing your phone to no avail - Remove your battery, wait a minute or two, replace and reboot your SB2. Voila!
(Thank God, because I was not in the mood for replacing my Jawbone 2)

Well my 72 hour phone ticket never produced a call, so I called TMO back. They are sending me a new phone, but can't guarantee that it will have the update. They waived the $10 shipping charge, so its a free exchange.
My bet is that I get the update within 24 hours now.
Damn I think we're on the old show "punked" and there was no update to begin with! As a side note, I ve been trying endlessly to get rid of the default messaging notification so I dont get duplicate notifications and I think i have finally found a solution! I downloaded an app called "automatic task killer" but there are other ones out there. This program automatically kills apps when the phone screen turns off. I told this program to automatically kill just the stock messaging so when i get a text, it automatically clears the envelope!the trick is you get the text, the phone screen turns on and then off like normal(which triggers the program to kill the messaging notifications) so now you only get notifications from 3rd party apps!

That's a good tip, thanks! Might want to copy that in the "Tips and Tricks" thread - I have seen a lot of people mention this.
It's easier to just delete the apk and reinstall it, then it gives you the choice to disable notifications.
I need root for that though, right? I would be glad to do that, but I don't know how - I actually just posted in the root sub-forum a request for helping me figure that out on a mac. I tried to learn it on my own, but got scared I would brick my phone and backed off. I know it's not rocket science, but I think I'm ignorant of a few key pieces of knowledge ... If you can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.

You can get the adb shell running on a mac, since its part of Google's Android SDK. Just go to the SDK website and grab the mac version Android SDK | Android Developers. This will allow you to use the try3 script to get root. The thing you will not be able to do is run Samsung's ODIN which would get you back to factory stock since its PC only. You might want to consider Fusion or Parallels on your mac to run virtual PCs.
So basically you can root and apply custom ROMs from a mac, but if you want to get back to factory, you need a PC.

So I don't have the update yet but, after a replacement phone that didn't have the update either, T-Mobile let me know that samsung told them the update are sent out Mondays from 11pm-6am PST. Not sure if that's accurate or not, but I guess we'll find out in a few days
Run the Device Manager, just click Start DM, and the updates are finally coming through. I just confirmed on my phone and a friends phone. The DM arrows did not disappear and then 3G was red for a long time and then finally said Update and it installed!!

lol she said she was reading from her samsung information sheet, but my brother got his update just after I posted that... so yeah.... it's kinda b.s. lol

This is happening for me right now - sweet! I can't imagine how excited I'll be when we get an OS update, as pumped as I've been for this lil bug fix
why wait for the update when we can install bh_man's rom. The new rom already has the update
I was suckered into trying the tmo update since my wife got an update (her's was twiz) so i figured I'd try with my phone. alas, after odin back to twiz, still no update lol...
Yeah I finally got my update earlier this morning... And for those who were wondering I don't have a data plan, *and* I'm one of those who won the phone back in November. Although I did call t-mobile and bitch something like 5 or 6 times this past week, so I really don't know if that had anything to do with it.

I received my update this afternoon. I noticed others in the thread mention that it is rolling out. I rebooted and waited to device manager. No luck. I verified my settings and noticed I had "LAB" selected. I changed it back to "Production" and "Started DM" it worked after that.
Now to find out if all the waiting, angst, and etc. were worth it.
Its christmas time..i got my update too..hopefully it fixes what it says it does, especially battery life. Now I can finally get away from stock and go back
to messing around with the phone
I got my update during the night and went proceeded to install it as prompted, but it failed. I went to Device Management and it said the result was: Update failed. I downloaded what I assume is the update file from server (https://fota.t-mobile.com:433) and address listed in Device Management and have a file called delta_T939UVIJ6Plus_to_T939UVJA3 (size: 12,412,064 bytes) on my sd card in this directory:
/sdcard/download/OmaDownload.com/10475/1001/
Does anyone know how I can use this to retry the update? Running DM does nothing. I'm assuming I need to get it loaded into wherever the Software Update command looks, but not sure where that is. Thanks for any help.
