Default Post here if you received the OTA update.

Just like the title says, that way we get an idea of where you are, when you got it, and what you have noticed that is different. Also please post if you updated and then flashed Galaxy back to see if there are noticeable differences that route as well and any pit falls that you may encountered. Thanks.

Not looking like it... we'll probably see it on the very last day haha.

Oh well, my phone isn't having the problems that are being fixed aside from the battery indicator thing. I can live with that until it comes.

I won't get the update if I installed the galaxy rom, correct? If I flash back to the Behold rom, the OTA should kick in?

So, Dumb question of the day but how will we be able to confirm the update has been applied? I flashed back from Galaxy to get the update and my phone just rebooted. How do I know whether that was an OTA update or just some of the usual Sammy "Love"

you mean you flashed back to Twz? a box will pop up saying system update would you like to apply now. Then it will start to install, reboot, then walla! You will know if you get it!

Yep, I flashed back to Twiz - I was having audio issues anyway (no headphones and minimal speakerphone), so I had planned to Odin and re-root but was had figured to wait and encapsulate the update so I wouldn't have to turn around and go through the whole process again.

Thanks for the response!

It has been an unbearable 2 days and counting since I've been back with touchwiz awaiting this update. It's like going back to your ex when you know she's getting her tax return check and once she breaks bread with you, it's time to move on. I wish this update would hurry up and come.

Actually its pushed via google. T-mobile service technician said they have nothing to do with android updates. So as long as you have wifi on it should be ok.

Google is responsible for updating the base android OS (they distribute the OS for free under GPL2 to anyone who wants it), Samsung is responsible for customizing the OS to work for their hardware, and since T-Mobile is the sole carrier for this phone, they are responsible for distributing the update from Samsung to the phones.

I have a feeling that the update got pushed back to the 22nd just like the Cliq update. In terms of T-Mobile releasing the OTA, if they were going to release both on the 18th, it makes sense if they pushed the Cliq to the 22nd that the same would happen for the Behold 2.
As of right now in all the different forums I visit only behold_this has gotten the update... a bit fishy. If he had at least gave us the new kernel information (About Phone) maybe we can believe it a bit more.

I can't wait for this post from one of the trolls........

Samsung lied to us! I spoke to my brother's cousin's roommate's friend who works for Samsung & is a TMO rep on the side and he said that there is no update, it's just a hoax. They got sick of people complaining so they are going to tell you an update is coming to keep the pressure off. The only way to get a 2.1 update is to buy a new phone.

Which is what I assumed as well but a tmobile service technician told me the bug fix was being pushed from google.

EDIT - I just called TMO right now and a customer rep said the bug fix will be generated by TMO and start going out on the 26th by serial numbers. .... now I don't know what to believe.

that rep doesn't know what they are talking about. that is only for people who buy the phone after the 25th. I HAVE THE UPDATE! i understand why people don't believe me but it's true. the only update delayed is the one for the cliq and that is because it had bugs that the first batch of people received.

Not calling fraud on your claims but we need some kind of proof. Screenshots maybe, firmware version etc.

First part is correct, and I suppose the date part was being confused with the cliq.

Meh if he got it, he got it. I don't need proof. This update is nice, but not ground breaking. It's just going to force me to root and remove those new games. Now if this was an OS update, like going to 1.6 or 2.x, then I'd be all over the screen shot idea.

i seriously honestly dont think we'll be stuck on 1.5 just in the big spectrum of things, look how asinine it sounds. Brand new android phone will come out with 1.5 and stay 1.5. I seriously doubt it. Theres an OS update in the works, stop getting your panties in a bunch and wait for it. Thats life, a big giant waiting game. So relax.

We know the BH2 will get an update. But people get antsy when other phones are getting their updates. I think we're all just excited for some kind of update, even if it is a tease to the upcoming OS change.

the thing i cant stand the most is that this phone is suppose to have a long battery life because of the screen and it has a bigger battery than most phones but yet our battery life sucks and the battery meter doest even match!!!

my battery meter worked perfectly fine. and it doesnt drop the 95% when i unplug it. Twiz hasnt given me problems. i've never dropped a call, and my battery under heavy use lasted 6+hours and still had 60% charge. to which i went to my buddy's lan party and it didnt die until the next morning at 8am when i heard it jingle as it was shutting down. so my phone lasted me 18 hours. i had a few calls during the time, did some texts. then forth came the 6 hours of heavy use. and then after that 6 hours of use i continued using the phone from time to time.

since then i've charged it to 100% and barely used it. it is now day two and i still have a 50% charge.

also, wave blazer and armageddon squadron are amazing 3d games that run darn good. id buy both. i have. and both are multi player aswell.

So based off the lack of "relevant" responses to this thread, no one has gotten the update yet?

Well I got a tweet from Tmo, "Expect the update going 2 ur phone within the next two weeks. We release updates 2 a certain amount of people per day." So more waiting yay. But this just goes with something else I read, that its based off of the serial numbers, so they are just grabbing a batch of them at a time to make the update available.

And to hop into the fray, its been said this is just a waiting game. The G1 peoples went through the same thing. Patience please. But hey a screenshot wouldn't hurt.

Update: App to take screenshots without a pc(requires root) http://www.sizzledcore.com/2009/02/06/take-screenshots-on-android-phone/

That's not going to stop me!

When someone does get it, will they be able to copy it and distribute it to everyone else?

Gawd I hope so, but I doubt that will happen till one of the more proficient users gets it. I dont even know where the update would download to. If someone can answer that, I'll try to grab it whenever I finally get the update.

What might happen if TM sends out your update notification and your still running the Galaxy ROM. Will you get it when you ODIN back, will it be waiting for you, will you have to contact TM?

You go into settings. Scroll all the way down, then click Software update.

Default lame ?

So, I don't see this update button you're talking about. What is the exact path? I don't see anything under Settings.

Also, not sure how much I want this update anyway. Just more crapware that I won't use and can't uninstall, but will take up resources anyway. (curse you, telenav!!!)

Default ah, found it.

I assumed you meant Menu -> settings, and didn't see it there.

That's because it's in the app drawer -> settings -> software update.

So I retract my question, but still hate telenav.
