Is this update/fix really worth manually pushing? I mean what's the advantage of having the update when I'm running BH_MAN's BH2 Stock rom perfectly fine? I could understand if I were running stock out of the box, but my phone is fast and having zero problems right now. Someone sell me on this.
I tried to do this procedure and it seemed to have worked.
it said I had an update, said it was going to restart the phone and that it would take about 10 minutes once it rebooted (only took about 1-2 minutes) it just turned on normal with no changes (did not update) any ideas?

Mine does the same. That is why I called to see if/when this is going to happen for my phone. Not luck

Because the procedure doesn't work

To Force The Samsung Bug Fix Update Follow These Simple Instructions:
Assumptions :
You are using the STOCK ROM. BH_MAN's Hybrid ROM will not work as Device Management is DISABLED. I can't speak to the GALAXY ROM so to be safe ODIN back to Stock.
You're battery is above 50%
You have a Solid Signal (3g seems to be required)
You Are Using the TWLauncher home screen - You can not be using a different home screen.
Steps:
If you dont already have AnyCut, Download and install it from the Market Place
Long Press an empty spot on your desktop
Select Shortcut from the context menu
Select AnyCut as the ShortcutType
Select Activity from the AnyCut shortcut type
Select Device Management from the list of Activities
You can rename the short cut if you want to, but it's not necessary
Click "OK" - the short cut should be created on your desktop
Click the short cut to launch Device Manager
Select Start DM
You should immediately see a pair of red and blue arrows in the top left corner of the screen - these are in a different location than the usual "Getting Information" arrows that appear more towards the middle of the top of the screem
After a minute or so you should be prompted to install the update.
If the arrows disappear and you are not notified of an update proceed with step 14
While still in Device Management - hit Menu then select Software Update
1 Hour should be selected - hit "OK"
You should now see a clock next to the arrow icons in the top left corner of the screen.
Reboot the phone.
After restarting open Device Management using the desktop shortcut.
Select Start DM
This should now initiate the update.
ENJOY!
Dont you think some credit should go here they started this last night? euph_22

I made an anycut shortcut to device management, clicked start dm. 5 minutes later, it's now installing. I didn't need to download anything beforehand.

Absolutely correct, it wasn't my intention to pose that this was my original idea I was refining and augmenting the documentation and work of others. In my hurry to post clear and concise directions that were easy to find I neglected to give credit.
Well, I would say a more accurate assessement is that we don't know why in some cases it does and some cases it doesn't. I can confirm that it works since those steps were written as I performed them and it resulted in my phone being updated. I also believe there are people who followed the instructions and posted that it worked for them. Clearly there is an unknown parameter here, but I don't believe it is correct to flatly state it "doesn't work".
i got the update on day one (feb 18) but had to exchange my phone for a new one. the new one was not updated. i followed these steps exactly and now am updated! awesome work to everyone that figured this workaround out!
I had not received the update yet, so I gave this a try. After fighting with re-enabling TWHome (I was using Pandahome), I did a factory reset. From there, I followed the directions as posted and it worked! Thanks for your hard work and research everyone!
<edit>
Err uh, it looked like it update, but I still have the same kernel. When running DM, it said there was a new update, asked if I wanted to install, then asked to reboot and everything went according to the directions.
Still showing Kernel version 2.6.27 behold2@sep-01 #1
Build number:
76XXCSDCBALUM6375
You will see the PDA; Phone; and Software Version numbers in this section
The T939xxxx6 for PDA AND PHONE and then
Software Version - ending in .006 on the last line.
I do have that version listed when following the directions to check in that thread. Maybe a reboot would put those new apps on the menu.

Yea i got the false positive also. Guess Ill jus wait for BH_MAN to get cracking on some ODIN or something. Or by some miracle tmobile will update my phone.

I got a false positive too so I completely flashed back to stock since I had on flashed back to factory after rooting, but it didn't and in the pointless apps I deleted in the past. Hopefully it'll work this time I guess we'll see. I will post an update whether it works or doesn't. Seems to me it's not a matter of the instructions working or not working and more a matter of for whatever reason some people are getting updates and others aren't no matter what we try.
So thank you to anyone who was involved in any of the threads and forums that are trying to help the rest of us get the update.
To the rest that seems to get all pissed off and do nothing but bitch about other posters, their phone, tmobile, google, samsung, try to grow up a little. If you get that bent out of shape over a phone or an update I would hate to see how you handle the rest of your life.

Thanks for this! As a note, this will work using a Wi-Fi network in the place of a 3G network. That's how I ran it.
This was sadly a necessity for me as I bought the phone on ebay, had it shipped to Canada, unlocked it, and am using it on the Fido network where the radios can't see the 3G Network. When Wind Mobile launches here, which runs on all the same frequencies as T-Mobile, I should have beautiful 3G (which was the plan all along)!
i have a question, is the phone after updated better than the phone used BH_Man hybrid rom ?
I'm thinking no. It fixes some things that I'm not even having problems with when using his stock BH2 rom. I really don't see the importance of updating until an OS update.
i did all the steps but nothing happened... after an hour i still have the blue an red arrows with the clock... i reboot the phone and everything but aint got the freakin update!!!!! help please

Yeah. I would also like to know how you forced the update through wi-fi.

I am in same boat. Did an ODIN back to Twiz stock out of the box, did all the steps, got the Congratulations message and upon reboot, nothing new!
I honestly think this will only work if you already are on the list to be updated already!

i agree! im also running the hybrid rom.. i did the batter trick.. i now have a charge that lasts me 2 days.. the phone itself is fast.. curious if its worth the update myself

I got my update at 1:45 am Friday morning. I was using my phone and briefly saw the arrows in the left corner but did not get the update. This happened a couple times. I think my using the phone interrupted it.
I finished what I was doing and robooted the phone and got the arrows and left it sitting. It downloaded and I got the pop up and clicked go. It gave a progress bar and rebooted and voila update.
If you have seen the arrows but did not get the update try rebooting and leaving the phone alone. It seems like it may not download the update if you are using the phone at the time.
If you called to check your imie number and they didn't help you (happened to me once) just call again. You will most likely get someone else. Keep trying until you get someone who knows what you are talking about. If they have the wrong number on file you wont be able to get the update most likely. If you exchanged the phone for any reason or won the phone the number on file is probably wrong.
I think they wont push it to you just because you request it but the system seems to be pushing it out at all hours.

From tmonews Known issues solved
Bluetooth error: Unable to Pair or Unable to connect device (I never had this problem)
Battery indicator may display more charge than the phone has
Holding menu opens keypad, but does not respond, now goes to contacts. (Not true still brings up the keyboard)
Phone constantly vibrates (I never had this problem)
Memory card un-mounts and re-mounts intermittently (I fixed this problem with a better quality sd card)
Music plays automatically when accessing the music player
Incoming emails do not show the return email address
Corporate emails stop syncing
New additions Evernote application added Where’s Waldo game added Midnight Bowl 2 game added (could have lived without these)
Music Player auto-play upon launch corrected
“About” phone menu added to Settings, Quick List>Settings>About
Phone Boot screen animation change (now Samsung logo (ooh yay)
Delay reduction for proximity sensor while on a call
Battery icon status in notification bar now matches screen lock battery status
Supposed to be some tweaks to help with battery life
If none of this is an issue for you then don't worry about the update. If any of this is an issue then update.

So I tried to install BH_MAN's hybrid ROM again after the update and I got hung up at the pulsing Samsung Logo. After ODIN'ing back I can no longer access the update using this method. Any thoughts or ideas around what to do next? Is there a way to create an ODIN image after getting the update?

Now if only TMO would send me the stupid fix.
I know how you feel. I was beginning to think I wouldn't get it. I had gone back and forth from stock to galaxy to stock/no TWiz. I thought I had missed my spot on the list.
I just left it bone stock except for handset sms and beautiful widget. I called to check my imie number and did the dial code and just decided to be patient.
The thing is having done that and now that I have the update I think I may root just so I can run Setcpu and delete the dumb demo games. Other than that I'll just leave the phone as is. At least until someone gets a stable OS update Rom working.

Can Somebody With a Default Update Do this For me?
adb pull /system C:\BH2 ( C:\BH2 = Your File Folder ) then upload the file's and Post them here?
Since I'm still waiting on the Update myself, I've had a brief chat with my Source at Samsung & he confirmed there isn't nothing life chaning in the kernel regarding problems. All fixes was addressed mainly to the OS it's self.
The Faster I can get the System Dump of the Update, the Faster I roll out updates to the system.img for everyone..
I've asked before, & sorry to ask again... Just eager to get the Dump is all.
Thanks,
BH_MAN
So I got the update message through the dm intialize it says congratulations you have an update your phone will re boot but then it does that then when it re boots nothing happens.. For those with this problem how do you get the update to go through or are we part of the unlucky who don't receive it yet?
Well I just got off the phone with TMO, I'm now in a 72 hour hold pattern to receive the update. They forwarded my request to engineering (again, but there was no record of it the last time). I'll update you when I get the update. The rep I spoke to was very knowledgeable about the update, knew the time frame and also how it was deployed differently from other Android updates.

To get the update, do you ALWAYS have to be running TouchWiz just like in this "force" method? Because everytime I switch to touchwiz I see the red and blue arrows again but nothing happens.
