Hopefully one of these works for you. If not, I'll see if I can grab the .apk for you.
i'm getting the same error when trying to download from the webpage on my phone. the android market wont find it, even if i look through all of the other apps by developer. this is so frustrating x_x; my phone is not rooted, it has the 2.2 froyo update on it (samsung captivate), and even if i try the QR code, it takes me to the market and brings it up, but there is no download or install button anywhere ugh. ive been dying to get a new screenshot app since froyo came out, i accidently took a screenshot while dialing a phone number the other day and i saw screenshot saved, i was like OMG... and ive been on the hunt ever since for something that can explain how to do it purposely rather than accidentally. the back+home+home combo didnt work for me either .... jeeze ;o im fairly new to all of this anyway, but i did used to use an app (zF i think..??) to temporarily root phone so i could use screenshot it before the 2.2 update but i never did a permanent root .. /sadface.

would be awesome

Also what were the permissions required for the app? anything fishy?

Default I found out how

I found this thread by googling for something like "screencapture folder mysteriously appeared" The answer for me, with Samsung Fascinate and Froyo, is to press and hold the back softbutton and simultaneously press the power button. I get a shutter sound and a new PNG file in that mysterious folder.

With all the chaff about how to take screenshots (and the only answers being root or use a PC) I can't believe this isn't more widely publicized...

Tried it. Doesn't work. You know the fascinate and the captivate aren't the same device, right?

Thank you! I reset my phone to factory default and the Market shows it as installed and not compatible with my Captivate. Works just fine on my I897

You hold the search button (magnifying glass) and tap the back button. Seriously guys. It took me one try to find this. If you already have screen capture apps installed, it will ask you which app to use. If none are installed, the stock com.sec.android.apps.screencapture will save to ScreenCaptured folder on sdcard.

Hi,

My name is Edward and I'm the developer of an app called "Screenshot It". This app lets you take screenshots on your phone without having to plug it into a computer and without having to root it.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.edwardkim.android.screenshotitfull

Hope this information is useful to some people and let me know if you I can help in any way!

If I hold the search button (magnifying glass), the voice search pops up and apparently interrupts any chance of pressing the back button (u-turn arrow). Is voice search something that can be disabled?

Default Solution

On my Captivate running 2.3.6, I press Home + Power. I can very consistently take screenshots this way without having ever installed anything from Market or rooting my phone. Photos go in Gallery under Screen Capture. It was a little fickle at first, figuring out the hand position so I didn't hold home too long (get a screenshot of running apps) or not long enough and end up shutting the screen off. Hope that helps!

So, yesterday I installed the official at&t release of froyo onto my captivate and everything went smoothly.. cutting to the chase.. I believe I saw someone post that you can take screen shots now on the captivate with froyo.. is there any truth to this and if so... how do I go about performing a screenshot?

Much appreciated..

PS... Speedtest downloads on new Froyo Release show a 15.2 mbps dwnld
1.2 up and a very good ping.. I can definetly say the captivate is quicker with the froyo install

Not bad considering my computer downloads at 16 meg

I discovered a great way to take a screenshot if you have a non-rooted, Froyo, Captivate, but the screenshots are a little shaky: take a picture with another phone. I used my guy's iPhone for irony.
