Loving it so far.

Just received my new droid charge from fed ex yesterday. Ordered 2 on black Friday for 96 cents each with new 2 year contract For me and my wife. I'm loving it so far (compared to my HTC aria ). Having some issues with network connection dropping sometimes. And some glitches when unlocking phone and switching pages. Still waiting on the gingerbread to hit my phone. But, all in all a great phone so far. Hope the network issues are resolved soon.

Believe me, they are solved in Gingerbread. Check out the other threads for mention of this. You could jump the gun and get the OTA a different way.

Download this... update.zip

Rename to update.zip (remember, turn off Hide File Extensions for Known File Types in Windows or you'll end up with update.zip.zip)

Put that on your phone's SDCard in the root of it, don't put it in a folder.

You would then (once the file is on it), power the phone off and then hold this button combination; Up Volume Rocker + Home button, while holding those two you can begin holding the power button. Once you see the Samsung logo you can release the power button but KEEP holding the up volume rocker + home button until you see a custom. A different screen will appear. One of the options should be "apply sdcard:update.zip". Select that and run it.

Sorry Trparky. Im a noob when it comes to Android. Not too sure what ota and most of the other stuff you mentioned in your post. Maybe you could clue me in and get me up to speed with all that??

OTA stands for Over The Air, specifically Over The Air Update.

The update ZIP file I mentioned is the same thing that you'd be getting from Verizon via the OTA.

Just wait for OTA from Verizon. It's being pushed out as the moment. You should receive it soon.

I followed your instructions and everything worked perfectly the first time. Easy easy easy. Took 20 minutes from the time I started the download to the time I finished. One thing that I noticed in the instructions was at the end to hit the power button to reset. That did not work and the screen, at the top in red, said hit the home button to reset which worked.
